Digital Playground alone signing up is no big deal. They make feature films which is basically garbage. Although I gotta admit, I've seen the trailer for Pirates, and I couldn't believe it was actually an adult film. It kinda looked like a low budget Hollywood blockbuster.

But I do believe the Adult Film Industry will play a huge factor in the HD-DVD vs, Blue-Ray war. The Adult Film Industry is a mutli-billion dollar industry. I've never seen a Adult Film in HD and I'm not sure I really want to.

If all adult film companies sign up for Blue-Ray I'm sure Sony would be really happy althought they won't admit it.

I think everyone is missing the point of this article. And the point is, there is actually a porn movie out there called Pirates. My imagination runs wild at the thought...

Um... playing the Devil's Advocate for a moment here... when HD is able to make it clear that Teri Hatcher looks like Skeletor, are you absolutely sure this is the best plan?

I'm thinking directors will need to put Vaseline on the camera lenses like they were spackling a hole in drywall...

They already do that...take a look at "Good Morning America" in HD on ABC in the morning, and then compare that to "Lost". ABC definately softens the picture for Diane Sawyer and gang in the morning. And yes, Teri Hatcher does look pretty bad at times (especially in low light) on the HD "Desperate Housewives".

PS2 had no HDD but it's price tag was the same as Xbox

I wouldn't think twice about plunking down $600 for a PS3 Blu-Ray. I've been waiting for an HD DVD player for 2 years now. IT is a MUST have for an HDTV owner like me.

Honestly... reading this thread, it really does seem most are anti-Sony in "these here parts."

It's pretty sad. People willing to dismiss it already... yet, has anyone seen what it can do?

As a gamer, I'm anxiously awaiting what future technologies will bring, and that includes Blu-Ray, HD-DVD, WHATEVER. But all these posts of "I don't care the the PS3 is about; I'm not interested..." kind of make me... well... disappointed in some fellow OSer's.

I've always been an early-adopter. I don't figure that on changing, no matter what Sony prices the PS3 at.

And as for HD porn... I've seen it. There's even a trailer for it on the 'net....

I think SD was right on that one though... I'll take my reg. DVD quality over HD this time....

Okay, now with the non-Blu Ray system, will games have missing data and content compared to the other one? Will I have to make sure that I pick up the right game or what? I'd definitely consider that joint. I guess the PS3 might be a buy afterall. I hope that lower one is lower in price. I'd definitely get down with that joint. Now I'll wait to see what it's looking like come E3. I hope something is released there that can elaborate on all this speculation. I wonder if their Playstation Live will have updates too?

Oh, Pared, there are just as many folks that are anti-Microsoft.
That's completely obvious... you should be just as disappointed in them, too.

Backbreaker, for example, appears to fishing for sales commissions, Kutaragi-style.

I don't hold stock in either company - their ups and down don't concern me in the least. I want the best product for me, at the best price.
I couldn't care less who makes it, or what it's called.

Pro-consumer all the way. Always have been.

I thought the whole point of the blu-ray drive (aside from the HD aspects), was the amount of disk space it allowed game developers. Could this mean there will be some games that non blu-ray drive PS3 owners won't be able to play??

Also, granted it obviously won't look as nice, but can the top of the line system still be played on a standard television, or is an HDTV [I]required[I]??

If there are two SKU's, then yes - and Sony should expect to have a riot on their hands when they have to explain to parents who didn't pay attention that little Jimmy can only play some of the PS3 games.

Two SKU's - and this is the first I've ever heard about it - would be as mind-bendingly stupid an idea for the PS3 as it was for the Xbox 360.
In my opinion, the Xbox 360 was permanently crippled by that foolish and short-sighted decision.

No I'm just trying to bring balance to you guys, you have lost your way. Its a game site, and it has become a brand site period. I'm not searching for sales. It is true, that I am in anticipation of the PS3 more than the X360, simply because of its feature set and its future capabilities. I am PS3 ready, I have a PSP, I have a 67 inch Samsung DLP with 2 HDMI's. I can afford to buy a PS3 with blu-ray, and with that purchase have a game machine. And, if it fails blu-ray that is, I can easily purchase a HD-DVD with no problem. I'm forward and looking "FORWARD" to tommorow, you chose a system thats is today and yesterday.

I will be at E3, with my PS3 bells on.

if you can afford all that, i reccomend you grab a Xbox 360 as well
