Re: More PS3 Speculation
Even without official evidence, that sounds absolutely right! That's exactly what I was expecting for the launch, although maybe a few months earlier. It will hit the US months after it launches in Japan. Japan is by far their biggest market and that's where they have the edge on everyone else as far as sells are concerned.Originally posted by Erv -

400 dollars and no hard drive? Also, how many of you would be willing to spend the extra 200 bucks for the bluray drive?Originally posted by APOCEven without official evidence, that sounds absolutely right! Re: More PS3 Speculation
Certainly not me. I don't plan on buying blue-rays, so unless DVD's are gonna disappear by the end of 07, I'm not going to need it.Originally posted by aholbert32400 dollars and no hard drive? Also, how many of you would be willing to spend the extra 200 bucks for the bluray drive?Comment

Re: More PS3 Speculation
We all knew the system was going to be expensive. All the reports have hinted at it. I for one, would. I believe in Blu-Ray's potential and hope it has a great future.Originally posted by aholbert32400 dollars and no hard drive? Re: IGN says PS3 might break you
I have read that the burn in risk on this generation plasma's is less, but not eliminated. Don't know.
I guess I'll just stick with my DLP and LCD for right now. I'll have to see native 1080p in action before I decide whether it's worth it to drop the coin on a set that displays it.
As for the PS3, once again I had convinced myself I won't buy one. Just as I had done with the Xbox upon it's release. But I just don't have the willpower, I always end up buying every console on release day. It's a sickness.Comment

Re: IGN says PS3 might break you
Has anyone figured out with HD DVD format will be the standard? Does Blu-Ray have the inside track?Originally posted by sdrotarThat's correct. Even the current 1080p HDTVs do not receive it natively.
That's because, as mentioned - there's nothing that puts it out there yet. The PS3 may be the first device to market that does.
That's why the $1000 or more premium for a 1080p set may not be worth it.
When they can receive that signal natively? Then they may be.Comment
