Re: Playstation 3 Information, hardware, games & more discussion...
I totally agree...I don't have a HDTV, and only one of my friends does (and he's the guy who always has the best stuff)...Originally posted by ExtremeGamerNintendo Switch Friend Code: SW-7009-7102-8818 -

Most people who post here dont have an HDTV and alot of the people that have one on here I would say are in the upper middle to upper class. I'm in the middle class but Im single with no kids so I can afford to splurge a little. My point is why make the main selling point of the PS3 something that at the most only 15-25% of consumers will be able to use? Alot of people want a PS3 and most of them arent gaming addicts like us. They dont know or care about what Bluray is. They just want a gaming machine but if that machine is going to cost them 600-700 w/ only one game. They will probably take a look at other consoles. The PS3 isnt the first console to try to sell at a high price point. All of the ones that have (Remember the 3d0) have failed misreably.Originally posted by APOCI don't believe most people who post here are in the upper class, but happen to own an HDTV. Why? Because they're football games look better on an HDTV. That is just one of many examples. If somebody sees an HDTV doing something more for them, and if they want it bad enough, they will buy one.Comment

There are people that are excited, but to be honest man, you are obsessed. You sound like a nut case. Whenever someone post's your so quick to respond, it's scaring me. It's like you face is stuck to your PC monitor waiting for someone to post so you can counter right away. You have never seen the PS3 in action, nor have you play it, or have any facts on anything you say, there all opinions. I think you need to relax a bit, your acting like Sony is your company and your sound like your trying to sell the system hard to people, just let it go man the WAR is over.Originally posted by APOCI have no clue why you think most people won't care about it just because you don't.
So if you don't think you'll buy one based on specualtion so far, why concern yourself further with what those of us excited for the PS3 have expressed?Last edited by RoyalBoyle78; 02-03-2006, 01:23 PM.N.Y Mets

my ps2 looks good on my black and white tvOriginally posted by ErvSome people here were saying the exact opposite about HDTV's when the subject of 360 games looking quite a bit inferior on SDTV's was brought up. Make up your mind.

Huh? I'm confused about your point. The difference here is that while the 360 looks much better on a HDTV, it still looks good on an SDTV and will still work on an SDTV. With Bluray, if you dont have an HDTV it doesnt work.Originally posted by ErvSome people here were saying the exact opposite about HDTV's when the subject of 360 games looking quite a bit inferior on SDTV's was brought up. With accurate grayscale it might be an improvement over the uber-high contrast and red and green pushed colors on several TV's. Seriously though, how people can play games or even view the TV with some menu settings is beyond me.Originally posted by countryboymy ps2 looks good on my black and white tv

I've never heard bluray isnt compatible with SDTV's? Or am I misinterpreting what you have said?Originally posted by aholbert32Huh? I'm confused about your point. To view a Blu Ray disc, you have to have a HDTV. Otherwise it's a just a DVD. Blu Ray, just like HD DVD can only be used with HDMI. Unless Sony convinces the movie companies to let them use component due to copyright issues. But even then your TV would have to have component in.Originally posted by bergie56I've never heard bluray isnt compatible with SDTV's? Or am I misinterpreting what you have said?Comment

How doesn't it work without an HDTV? I've never heard that before.Originally posted by aholbert32Huh? I'm confused about your point. On the other hand I've heard a good portion of people say there's a hefty drop-off in quality(360) without an HDTV...even articles written about it.Comment

Re: Playstation 3 Information, hardware, games & more discussion...
If that was true then the PS3 would be limited in the same way...there's no way they'd let it only be playble on component TV's.Originally posted by ExtremeGamerTo view a Blu Ray disc, you have to have a HDTV. Not really, you can still play the games on a normal TV and it'll be like the other system (don't want to offend anyone) with a downgrade in graphics. But to take advantage of Blu Ray technology, you have to have a HDTV.Originally posted by ErvIf that was true then the PS3 would be limited in the same way...there's no way they'd let it only be playble on component TV's.Comment
