No, not actually. I was referring to him personally not to buy one, not the average person who doesn't understand what blu-ray is right now. Nice try to swing it like that though.

And no, not every soccer mom as you say will need to know what blu-ray is, they will buy the system anyway because it plays something called video games. But once that child and mom realize what blu-ray is (if they didn't know already), will be happy to know that it plays those type of movies. Sony doesn't care that you, fishepa, already own a DVR either. It'll still be there for everyone else. The PS3 will sell, and most definetly will sell better than any other next-gen console competing against it. I don't think that's even a question in Sony's mind, maybe Microsoft's however because thats all you can believe when your the one in second place.

I don't see how they will have a DVR, you would need to have at least a 40GB hard drive and that will drive up the cost even more.

I think Sony has everything covered fishepa. You can stop stressing so much about the DVR, everything will work out just fine. Just be patient, info will be here shortly.

I just wanted to mention that at EB today (Yeah I know take with a grain of salt) that they were told the system would be a minimum of 499.99 and a max of 799.99. Now he probably was just spewing stuff he read on the internet but if not it sort of sounds like 2 SKU's.
Here's hoping it's closer to 399.99 - 499.99.

2 SKUs would be stupid. MS f*cked up by making the Core system. Now developers gotta work with the least common denominator.

Sony would be stupid if they made a PS3 that would not support Blu-Ray movies then it'd be pointless even making the Blu-Ray for PS3. Yeah some would pay an extra $200 for it, but gamers wouldn't give a damn about it. First off, no one has ever heard of Blu-Ray and second, it doesn't help gaming at all (if it is true that there will be a bluray and nonbluray then it's also true that it'll just apply to movies and so it doesn't mean games can't be made on Blu-Ray discs). They're going to have to slip Blu-Ray into peoples homes for it to be successful.

I don't understand the question. Do I think blu-ray will be used by consumers from the get go? Or by gaming companies? Used by who?

It probably won't be used in the first generation of games. But later of course.

Movie companies are already using it(over a 100 movies already).

Consumers? Mmmm... Well... If they buy a PS3 and they have a HDTV, then yes. If you have a HDTV, you know the beauty of watching a movie in HD.

Can games be made on blu ray disc? yes. but not all games will be made on blu ray. i dont expect any launch games from ps3 to be put on blu ray discs, because right now, no games are pushing the DVD9 limit, and if the developer put it on a blu disc just to put it on a blu ray disc, that would jack up the price $20 per game.

Don't worry, Sony is not going the 2 sku route. It wouldn't make any sense for them to. There will be one version of the PS3 at launch, and it will be competively priced against it's competition.
