But I don't think they are marketing it that way. Most people I believe, don't have all of that technology in house. They'd be getting it all for one price which is why I see Sony going about in the manner speculated. It's a business decision. And I don't think that desicion will affect the consumer community in a negative way.Last edited by APOC; 02-03-2006, 12:40 PM.Comment

For Sony's online network, wouldn't it be nice if the head-sets were blue-tooth? The PS3 supports it, so I anticipate we will have wireless head-sets. I wonder how much that might cost though.Comment

Re: Playstation 3 Information, hardware, games & more discussion...
Originally posted by APOCThe future of PS3 gaming (edit: well not only gaming, but home entertainment as well) will rely on a lot of these features that you dismiss so quickly. It may not make sense to some right now, but I'm sure we'll get more info to help educate those who care shortly.
Put it like this. When I turn on my shiney new PS3 console, that means I will insert a game inside of it....to play. When I wanna watch tv, I have a cable box with DVR already built in. I dont want a PSP so the tranfer thingy wont apply to me. I have over 500+ dvds so I'm not switching formats when I already established a collection. If Blue Ray takes off, then I'll switch. Until now, I see no reason to. Point being, I just want it to play games. I have a PC with a dvd player, Xbox with a dvd player and a PS2 with a dvd player and I have yet to watch a dvd on any of those machines.http://neverfollow.biz (Independent Music Group)Comment

Originally posted by APOCWell, obviously besides Blu-Ray. The first Blu-Ray player to hit the market won't do so until summer.

Re: Playstation 3 Information, hardware, games & more discussion...
Originally posted by APOCI can see where your coming from. Sounds like the PS3 isn't for you. I willing to bet a lot of people out there (even fence-sitters) would be thrilled to have a system that is capable of so much.
If you don't want all of these great features that you'll never take advantage of, there are other consoles that may suit you better.
Another thing is all of these extras arent going to be worth the extra cost in 2006. Bluray means nothing without an HDTV and only 10-15% of Americans have an HDTV. The average consumer isnt going to pay 600 bucks for a PS3 and shell out 600-1700 more dollars for an HDTV. I dont think the DVR is happening either since Ive never heard Sony mention it in a press conference.
Im going to E3 so I'm excited to see what Sony does but I'm just worried that they have shot themselves in the foot by relying on Bluray and their brand name to sell PS3sLast edited by aholbert32; 02-03-2006, 12:55 PM.Comment

Originally posted by SoMiss2000depends on what Sony's live service costs...lol.
If Sony incorporated a fee for online gaming already into the PS3 price tag, maybe they would give gamers the option to play online for free with a stellar service. It's a long shot, but possible.Comment

Originally posted by APOCIf they say it's going to rival Xbox Live, than I can't imagine it being free. Ever since I heard about it, I can't stop wondering what they'll charge.

Re: Playstation 3 Information, hardware, games & more discussion...
Originally posted by aholbert32Sure they would but most people wouldnt be willing to pay 600 bucks for it. In order for this to be successful Sony needs to sell to the casual gamer, college students and parents. Most hardcore gamers may be willing to pay 500-600 bucks for a console but most consumers wont. And that is without games or an extra controller. If they dont have two Skus people are looking at paying 600-700 bucks at launch. Question: Has there ever been a sucessful console sold at a higher price point than $399? Honestly, the 360 is the only one so far to be successful at 399.

Well, it's not suprising you haven't heard about Sony's DVR plans at any previous press conference. They haven't had it yet. Stay tuned.Comment
