You know what I want? I want a gaming system. Yes a gaming system. I don't want a media outlet, a movie player, or a system that wipes my A@@#... I have plenty of gadgets in my living room. I don't need more. With that said I don't think the PS3 will be that much better then the 360 if it's any better at all. I think with these 2 systems well 3 with the WII that it really matters what games you want to play. I'm hoping the PS3 changes gaming forever. I am waiting to see what the PS3 has to offer. When I do I will choose my next gen console. We will start seeing a media frenzy with E3 on the horizon......ANyways enjoy the next gen gaming.

I notice a lot of video noise (grainy quality) with darker colors. It is my understanding that they did not include the latest codecs (if that is the correct term) with the 360. No one is quite sure why they did this and it is the reason you can't stream movies from your PC to the 360.

That's what it's all about nowadays, though. The multimedia experience. Nintendo tried your line of thinking with the Gamecube and they got trounced. I am not saying you are dumb or wrong to want just a game system, but this is 2006, not 1995 anymore. These companies know damn well that they need to offer more and more in order to really succeed in this market climate. With each console generation, it will be less about the games themselves and more about what else they can sell to you and advertise through the games and other avenues (e.g. downloadable content).

I see where your going, but I gotta disagree. I think both Sony and Microsoft have done a hellava job selling and convincing us why we need features we really don't need for our gaming experience.

Nintendo had the right idea strictly making a true game system but I still feel other factors hurt the GC without even factoring those additional multimedia features that were included in the PS2 and Xbox.

I will say this I have no interest or will ever buy a BR movie or MS external HD-DVD 360 player. I just want to play the games mannnnnnnnnn.

Right, but that is you. You, Tim and whoever else make up the people who "just want a gaming system" do not register as a pimple on the collective asses of Sony and Microsoft. The amount of people buying these next gen consoles pretty much renders the argument of the "I buy a game system to only play games" group null and void. A game system that is marketed as strictly a game system is going to have to be geared towards children in this day and age, and frankly that is just not the primary demographic anymore.

There are rumors that Sony is having problems with poor yield issues with the CELL and that they may not be able to fit all the hardware in the case. There could be yet another delay. None of this has been confirmed but there are rumors. I would not be surprised if Sony delays the launch. Of course it is still early and they have time to correct these issues.

I am not worried in the slightest bit, but the pics do look pretty funny. The reason I am not at all worried, though, is because I don't much care if it ends up being delayed again. Sony will release it when it's ready, and, whenever that may be, I will get one. I am perfectly content with my Xbox 360 in the meantime.

I wouldn't worry to much about that. MS had serious yield problems with the 360 and it's been addressed and the newer CPU design coming in Q1 2007 will radically increase the yields even more.

Sony will go thru the same headaches as MS did and will get it addressed. November 2006 is a long time away to get this problem fixed. Hell MS did it in 4 months and they're not an electronics manufacturer like Sony.

I think that one way or another they will get all that figured out before launch. If it gets delayed again, I'm not worried either as it allows me to save more of my money and enjoy the 360 even more.

This is crazy, I said I wasn't going to get a PS3 but looking at some of the game coming out I'm at the 50/50 point.
