Re: Playstation 3 Information, hardware, games discussion Part II
Because of Japan Sony knows its going to beat the 360 in total sales worldwide even if it stands a definate chance of losing in North America and Europe. We already know Sony is going to use this fact and lose a ton of money on PS3 hardware to try to establish Blue-Ray. The scary thing for Sony with Blue-Ray is how much money its current most profitable division could lose even if it "wins" the console war. The scary thing for Microsoft has little to do with this generation. What to they do if HD-DVD is dead before the next gen starts? (my guess is it will be) The fact that the console can't play true HD movies may in fact be a huge issue by then. But the bigger issue might be in what format they release games for whatever comes after the 360. Don't say download only. A 20 or 30 GB game is a lot even if you have broadband. I buy the idea that HDTVs will be well established in households by then and that HD content will be a huge issue 6 or 7 years down the road. I don't buy the idea that broadband will be in every house by then. In fact, I don't think it will be much bigger than it is right now. If you can get broadband in your house and you are the type of person who might buy a console odds are you already have it. If you can't get it in your house then you obviously you don't. I think there will still be many people without broadband 6 ot 7 years down the road. About the same as right now. Not being able to sell XBOX Live to these people is one thing. Allowing a console to ignore them totally is another.Originally posted by USF11Memory Cards are the devil! -

Microsoft Windows Vista only supports HD-DVD, not Blu-Ray. And we all know there are FAR MORE windows users than console gamers combined.Comment

Re: Playstation 3 Information, hardware, games discussion Part II
I have heard that on here more than once. Does this mean that it doesn't come with drivers for Blue-Ray? If that's the case it doesn't mean much. Does it mean that the software actively inhibits someone from ever writing a driver to make Blue-Ray work? If it is then I smell a lawsuit coming. Or is the security in Blue-Ray so hard that it can't work without extensive Blue-Ray ready content already existing in the OS or Motherboard?Originally posted by dagger55HD-DVD will survive, and not because of a console war...

The fact is neither will survive. Its all about streaming media. Besides every video format war has been won not by movie studios, but the adult industry.Last edited by USF11; 05-02-2006, 02:18 PM."Good music transcends all physical limits, it's more then something you hear, it's something that you feel, when the author, experience, and passion is real" - Murs (And this is for)Comment

Ubisoft announces Assassin's Creed. Not sure, if it's exclusive or not, but at the moment, it's only for PS3.

Publisher promises original game from the studio behind Splinter Cell and Prince of Persia will be the first in a new franchise.
Teaser trailer is sweet.

Microsoft not supporting Blu-Ray means that Vista doesn't come with native Blu-Ray support. You can add the software to make it work when you buy a Blu-Ray DVD device or it will probably come installed if buy a new PC with one.

Re: Playstation 3 Information, hardware, games discussion Part II
So....I'm assuming that this is only for the PS3? I'm hurting cause I'm loving what I saw. Honestly, I'd consider getting a game like that if it was what I hoped it would be. That was a killer trailer. Wasn't Ubisoft the ones who said they were making a game specifically for the PS3? Yeah, what a way to go. I guess buying two systems is eventually inevitable.......Originally posted by FlawlessUbisoft announces Assassin's Creed. Not sure, if it's exclusive or not, but at the moment, it's only for PS3.

Re: Playstation 3 Information, hardware, games discussion Part II
At the moment it's only been officially announced for the PS3, but since it's Ubisoft, I would be kind of suprised, if it didn't make it's way to the 360.Originally posted by luv_mistSo....I'm assuming that this is only for the PS3? Peter Moore said this
Singling out Ubisoft for praise, Moore also revealed that two PlayStation 3 games from the publisher would also be coming to the Xbox 360: Gearbox-developed WWII shooter Brothers in Arms 3 (tentative), and the still-mysterious Project Assassin, which looks like a bloodier version of Thief. He also offered the first glimpse of Splinter Cell 4 via a trailer that promised that the game is coming "online and offline in 2006."
Splinter Cell: Double Agent hasn't been announced for the PS3, so these games could be timed exclusives.
We'll see though.
Multi-console future FTW. I would hate to have to decide between them.I guess buying two systems is eventually inevitable.......Go Noles!!! >>----->Comment
