MS has done next to nothing with their head-start thus far. If SONY avoids production problems and the PS3 debuts at a competetive price they will catch MS within a year, easily. It is still all in SONY's hands, only they can mess this up.

Sony may be able to "catch" Microsoft in terms of sells and all in a year, but thats because of the Japanesse market.
Sony will lead the sales in Japan and Microsoft will lead the sales in the U.S.I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.
I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

I really wouldn't go that far now..You acting like if the PS3 did fail for some reason, wich I doubt it will. that sony will go broke from it...Sony is made up of many more things then just the Playstaion.Originally posted by Kashanovasony will be bankrupt before they can catch up to the 360 i just don't know how they can sell it for 400 and blu-ray players are 1800N.Y Mets

I doubt the PS3 will fail either. And Sony is made up of more things than just the Playstation, but none of those others make nearly as much money for the company. Quite a few of them are actually in the red.Originally posted by FootballForeverI really wouldn't go that far now..You acting like if the PS3 did fail for some reason, wich I doubt it will. that sony will go broke from it...Sony is made up of many more things then just the Playstaion.University of Evansville Graduate

You are joking right? The games for the XBOX 360 are better than the launch games on the PS2. It does not have to catch up it is already ahead compared to PS2 in April 2001 , not in sales, but the quality of the launch games are better. Now if you are referring to sales of course the PS2 is way ahead, it launched in year 2000.Comment

Sony will profit from every Blu Ray disc sold, not just ones released by Sony. If Blu Ray is even moderately successful they'll make enough money from it to offset the cost of the PS3.Comment

Re: Playstation 3 Information, hardware, games discussion Part II
Sony is not likely to sell that many Blu Ray disks because the casuals are going to stick with DVD for years and most HDTVs do not have HDMI. The will sell no where near enough to offset the cost of the PS3. The worst problem for Sony though is that Blu Ray is going to be obselete in about 5 to 10 years when it becomes feasible to download HD content. Seagate is expected to release a 700 GB HDD soon.Originally posted by MisfitSony will profit from every Blu Ray disc sold, not just ones released by Sony. Re: Playstation 3 Information, hardware, games discussion Part II
Exactly. I thinkg Sony knows that also. THe PS3 will be in many more households with the price at $399. I'm just hoping that I can get one on release day if it is $399. I can see the mayhem it can cause right now.Originally posted by SpongedaddyThe PS3 for $399 may be the greatest Trojan Horse in gaming history...and I will be letting that Blue-Ray bad boy into my home on the first day.Comment

Re: Playstation 3 Information, hardware, games discussion Part II
With production really ramping up, and Microsoft expected to ship 5-5.5 million units by June 30th. They should ship over 8 million before the end of the year, and would probably like to have 10-12 million by the end of the year vs 2-3 million for the PS3 (assuming Sony can hit that).Originally posted by LIGHTNINGBy May 2007 they will likey only manufacture 4 to 5 million units world wide. XBOX 360 will likely be over 8 million.
Microsoft shipped 1.7 million consoles during their third quarter (3 months ended March 31) with a total of 3.2 million shipped worldwide so far.
1.8-2.3 million over the next 3 months needed to reach their forcast of 5-5.5 million.
Another thing, Wistron (one of three Xbox 360 manufacturing partners) plans to start manufacturing 1 million units a month by the end of the year.Last edited by Flawless; 05-01-2006, 03:54 AM.Go Noles!!! >>----->Comment
