If the ps3 launches at $399 i could see microsoft lowering there prices around that time. Maybe to the rumored $299 but more likely to $349.

Everyone seems to expect a price drop from Microsoft. Has a console ever had a significant price drop only a year after its release? Seems like they usually come two years later. Microsoft is already taking a big loss on each 360 they manufacture, I'd be surprised they'd lower the price by a significant margin if without cutting development costs by a lot. I know they have developed a new processor but they need to re-coup the R&D to create this new processor and the new 360's won't be out by the time the PS3 launches.

A means of transferring info from one unit to the other. You may have a copy of the next MLB for your PS3 and PSP and you want to continue your season on the go. Maybe some games will support online play between PS3 and PSP users (though I doubt it since the hardware is so different) for certain games. Really, it will be as useful as any other Gameboy to SNES/N64/Gamecube connector cable, only without the cable. Which, in the past, hasn't been as useful as Nintendo would want you to believe but it has its place with some gamers.

I seriously doubt that the PS3 will launch for $399 and if so, I also don't believe that Microsoft would lower their prices. They already have a $299 price tag on the core. It would be dumb in my opinion for them to immediately drop the price. They have enough going for them to compete with Sony.

MS isn't taking a loss on there systems like the PS3 is going too be on each. The new processor is just going to be cooler and less noise, not a big deal.

Yeah, its never going to happen, but if Sony found a way to release at $399 they would win this new generation console contest in a walk. Not because they would necessarily have a superior piece of hardware or better games, but with their established(and seemingly loyal) user base, and the unbelievable amount of positive press they would get for coming in at such a "low" price they would sell systems like hotcakes. This is of course providing the system didn't have some fundamental design flaws resulting in too many broken systems.

It's all centered on Sony's Online service where the two can connect for games and you'll be able to transfer stuff like music, and videos from your PS3 to your PSP. And there maybe more things you'll be able to do between both systems.

Because at that price they are selling it and how much it's costing them to make they will lose there @$$ on each machine sold. MS cares cause they've got alot more money to spend than $ony.
