Definitely agree with this joint on the real. I guess Sony just punched Microsoft back. I'm just wondering what they're doing over seas. First thing that made me impressed is the fact that the HDD is required which should imply that it's basic from the getgo. All I wanted from Microsoft was that. Not trying to get anything started so don't take my words as a knife to the good news. I wonder if Microsoft knew that Sony was planning on making the HDD apart of the core? That's kind of funny cause didn't we talk about how Microsoft just out of the blue had some announcement about making games HDD required from now on or something? I would look for the article, but, I'm lazy this morning. Waking up to this goodness.

On another note, I'm definitely curious to see how the online looks for the PS3. So far, they have some very solid supports from different parts of the industry. All I could wonder is if Microsoft has some stuff in its sleeve to combat against Sony. Just yesterday, it looked like Sony was down and out for the count. I personally love my XBOX 360 but I was kind of rooting for Sony to get back on their feet. Though I'm definitely taking everything with a grain of salt, they sure are standing on their own strength. I con only wonder if the shuffling of the positions a year or two ago did them great. Something about Sony right now....they have my attention.......

I'm skeptical about the "million consoles a month" goal. I don't see how Sony can bypass the same manufacturing hiccups that MS is going through. That's just how it goes for new technology. There's no way that the Cell chips, RSX chips, and Blu-Ray drives will all be flawlessly mass produced enough to churn out a million units every month. We'll have to see.

LOL...they have your attention because they just made an announcement. Also I dont see how this is a punch back to MS. The only new things they announced were the 60 GB hard Drive and the Online component. Those things are very nice additions but at what cost? They still havent announced a price yet and a shortage is definently coming.

          With that said, I'm happy about a potential shortage. I got 1400 for a 360 maybe I can get 2,000 for PS3.

Sony made some impressive statements today. But it cracks me up how everyone is jumping out of the wood work to jump on Sony's bandwagon now, there was only like 4 guys on it before, now everyone seems to be hopping aboard. I guess it's true that Sony can basically say anything and people believe them. Oh well, should be a great E3, looking forward to seeing some in game footage of the PS3 and more concrete details on the info released today.

I just hope that they aren't rushing this because of the drop in their IPO and pressure from Xbox 360 doing so well.
Also, when Sony execs are telling people to "work extra hard to save up for this game" and that it "will be expensive" I'm worried that the price tag will be incredibly deep.

But I do agree that there will more than likely be a shortage of systems to start. I'm going to reserve one and then sell it for a few extra hundred bucks.

What do you think this console will cost to start? I think anything below $600.00 US will be a shock.

But I do love how online will be free. How many games can you play for free on Xbox live Silver package?

I've also read that the release date is November 11th. I've seen that in a few places, didn't see it above anywhere. But that's a Saturday...interesting.

You make a good point Extreme, there were only a handful of guys on here pro SONY and all of a sudden people are coming out of the woodwork.

I'm happy for SONY, but I can't really comment too much until a price is revealed. I know that I will prepay for one for sure as soon as we can just incase I do want one and there is no way I am pulling another 14 hours in the cold like I did for the 360.

It appears that the HDD will be something that you have to purchase on the side, so I can just imagine the cost of this system. If it's "mandatory" for a HDD, why not just package it with the system and drive the cost up a little bit more. I hate this kind of thing.

I agree. But I wonder if the 360 has forced Sony to rush this out causing them to not have their house in order.

I'm not a devout Xbox guy or Sony guy. I just want the best bang for my buck. Although I'm pretty tapped right now. I can't see myself affording either system for at least two more years. Maybe that's a good thing because by then I'll know exactly what each machine is capable of and which has the best library.

It leads me to believe that there might be 2 sku's, one with the HDD and whatever extras and one without the drive.

It was nice that SONY had that press conference, but they still have left gamers wondering what direction are they going in.

what's confusing to me is that Sony says games will require HDD, but never indicated whether or not HDD's will come standard with the system... wtf

If we learned anything from the 2k vs. EA fiasco, competition is good for the consumer.
