then what do you call it?

    Bad marketing? Poor production?

I believe that the 360 was pushed out the door, to get ahead of Sony. Nothing wrong with it, just business.

      Here's something to think about.

Sony Launches world wide in November at best case scenerio $425.

Microsoft counters by dropping the price of the 360 to $299 for a Premium, $199 for a core.

If you don't have either system which system are you gonna buy?

Also, the extra cost of blue-ray games was not brought up. Are we expecting a $59 price tag per game?

My expectation is that PS3 games will run about $69.99. Just my thoughts.

Another question is how willing are developers, who make a game across all 3 platforms, going to be to spend the extra time and money to fill the empty disc space of the PS3 Blu-ray disc?

A price drop that big is very unlikely, unless the PS3 somehow happened to come in at $299 - $349.

There will be a $50 price drop on the 360 for christmas at the very least.

70 dollars!! Naw, I highly doubt the PS3 games will run that high. They'd be scaring everyone to go with a 360. Even though the PS3 console may be priced higher than the 360, the games should be the same price. If you were to choose which system to buy a multi-console game for, the 360 would be the obvious choice if the PS3 game prices are at 60.

here is why there is confusion...

he says the HDD is required...

But when asked about whether that meant the HDD came with each system, he didnt comment. I'm getting that Sony will release the console for $400-$500 without an HDD, and then have a 'add-on' HDD. (i put that in quotes because you HAVE to have it) for another $70-$100... think of it as a memory card for the ps2. you didnt techincally have to have one to play... but you HAD to buy one.... get it?... that way, sony can release the console with a good looking price point, and make the consumer buy other things...

well someone has to take the hit since Sony if forcing games to be on BR, even though most devs in the first generation of PS3 wont be using that much space...

Sony is forcing BR to prevent piracy.

Developers will embrace blu-ray as it has far better/advanced copy protection than dvd, which in my opinion is the ultimate goal of blu-ray, especially when it comes to games. Very few games, if any, will fill even a single layer blu-ray disk in the forseeable future. I don't think developers will even try to fill up the disk just because the space is there, at least not with additional gameplay elements, they may offer more High-def FMV on multi-platform PS3 games and use less compression, which will give the PS3 better textures and an overall graphics advantage.

My biggest problem is $. I can't throw down another 450.00 on a system this year nor can I support two machines with 60.00 or above games. I love my 360 and will have to at least for this year only play it.
I'll get a PS3 IF the system really out performs the 360 AND has great exclusives. Heck even then I probably won't be able to get games for 2 systems.

CB that's insane, I can byte the bullet and buy a PS3 because it's a one time purchase but I don't see myself forking over $70 for games repeatedly just because Sony's forcing BR on us. I've already curtailed my buying with 360 games by only purchasing solid games. I'm not experimenting anymore at $60 or $70 per game.

Here is my thought on the whole PS3/360 debate...

We've all seen what the XBox 360 can do....Call of Duty, Fight Night, NBA and College Basketball 2K6 and now GRAW.

This piece of machinery is a MONSTER and we've only seen the very beginnings of what this bad boy can do. The online features are slick and the marketplace is awesome.

Unless PS3 has some RIDICULOUS exclusive games...I'll probably be holding off on getting one..if at all. And I'm one of the folks who can afford to drop 700 bucks on opening day for the system, extra controller, and a bunch of games. But why?

In all honesty...most likely..the PS3 will be about the same power/graphics/game-wise as the 360. On top of that...by the time the FIRST GENERATION PS3 games are coming out...Microsoft will have the SECOND GENERATION 360 games out...after the developers have had a full year to work with the machine.

Sony is going to take a MAJOR hit by Microsoft and it's because of many of the reasons I stated above.

There is already a GREAT Next Gen system out that is producing unreal games...and this is just the beginning.
