When are blue ray DVD's going to be available? Sorry if they are, just don't know. So with the PS3 we can play MLB 06 The Show in HD? Thanks for any response.

I don't think Blueray discs are out yet. I believe they'll be available in May of this year.
I know that HD-DVD movies are.
And I think HD-DVD is going to win out.
Sure, Blueray can hold more space and is supposed to be a better technology but so was Beta compared to VHS.
So why did VHS win out? Because it was cheaper to produce and they were able to flood the market faster. Exactly what HD-DVD has and is doing over Blueray.

Wow--nice stuff.

I want to pre-order a PS3 within the next two weeks, but I'm not entirely sold yet. I wish they released this info closer to E3. The games shown at E3 is the deal-breaker for me. Launch lineup is a HUGE factor on when I'll get this.

If Metal Gear Solid 4 gets delayed until '07--forget it. PS3 in '07.

CB that's insane, I can byte the bullet and buy a PS3 because it's a one time purchase but I don't see myself forking over $70 for games repeatedly just because Sony's forcing BR on us. I've already curtailed my buying with 360 games by only purchasing solid games. I'm not experimenting anymore at $60 or $70 per game.

you would have to do the same for the PS3.

The $70 is just my opinion. But with how expensive Blu-ray is, I could see them being that price.

I don't get the delay aspect. Only delay is in Japan. The PS3 was always supposed to come out in the fall in USA. Maybe I'm wrong.

sorry if i came out sounding like im trying to bash them.... i was merely stating the fact that they confirmed delay rumors and not squashed them. they said spring '06, they did not say for japan or us.... i'm not going by what u or other people think or assume that it wasn't going to be spring.... i was going by what sony said so it is considered a delay.... no big deal cause almost every piece of tech has some delays too it.....

I wasn't attacking you personally stephenyongchoi, and if it came across that way I am sorry. I don't think anyone in the US expected the system until this fall. Now in Japan, they may be a little upset with not getting the system first.

March 14, 2006 - Ken Kutaragi, PlayStation Master and keeper of big news has announced at the PS meeting today that the PlayStation 3 will be launching in early November worldwide for the North American, Asian, and European territories.



"A completely simultaneous launch is physically impossible," Kutaragi said, "but we believe we'll be able ship to users throughout the world around this time."

Sony's production line is set to pump out one million units per month to meet demand, with a total of six million units to be produced in Fiscal Year 2006 (through March 2007) alone. Production numbers are higher for PS1 and PS2 in their initial years.

APOC if you seriously think that there will not be shortages of the PS3 then you sir have taken fanboyism to a whole new level.

I am a Sony fanboy, ask anyone here. But its insane to think that the system will not be in short supply when it first launches, especially since Sony is making the mistake of launching worldwide. The PS2 was released in stages(Japan first, then US and so on) and we experienced shortages of them here in the US.

BTW those 6 million units, will be for everyone in the launch, Japan, US and Europe.

Dude, PS3 games aren't going to be more expensive than 360's. $60 is more than a fair price considering how bad-*** the PS3 games are gonna be.

MGS4 will most likely be an 07 release...



As for the Blu-Ray games pricing; I think you guys are being a little too hard on APOC... All he's doing is making the safe assumption that PS3 games won't cost more than 360, I tend to agree with him; and probably most industry people do to.

Everyone is assuming Blu-Ray games will cost more than 360 based on the price of the movies; Imo thats flawed logic.

Take the PSP for example, UMD movies cost way more than DVDs; but do the games cost way more than your average PS2/Xbox game? Of course they cost more than DS games thats a given since they don't use the same format... Little known fact, UMDs are more expensive than DVDs used for PS2/Xbox games, but you don't see $59.99 PSP games right?

Technically thats not true, in terms of MS first party titles you may have a piont...But as far as 3rd party multi-platform releases go PS3 launch titles= 360 second gen games...And thats a fact because multi-platform games will be nearly identical.

So in terms of 360 exclusives you may have a point...But since 3rd party games will out number MS exclusives, PS3 launch titles for the part will look every bit as good as 2nd gen 360 games; because well they're the same games...

For some reason, the 1 million per month refrences and speculation remind me strongly of the movie "Gung Ho" with Micheal Keaton. Where they promised to make something like 100,000 cars and they failed miserably.

Launch expect 1-2mil worldwide, so yea you're right... shortages and ebay galore.
