I hope they include it though in some package. (maybe split skus?)

Re: Playstation 3 Information, hardware, games discussion Part II
I think I'll wait until an official source is quoted and even then I'll wait until November to see if it really happens. Things are very fluid right now and Ken had ample opportunity to make that clear 2 days ago and did not. He was purposely vague and left options open.Originally posted by ps2king

It has DVI and HDMI hook-ups. Im just wondering how I get optical sound to my audio reciever if the HDMI cable goes into the TV. Since my sound and video are separate as of now and HDMI carries both.Originally posted by fishepaYou can't unless you're TV has an HDMI output."Good music transcends all physical limits, it's more then something you hear, it's something that you feel, when the author, experience, and passion is real" - Murs (And this is for)Comment

I still have my 27" RCA Home Theatre TV I bought almost 10 years ago. It was one of the few TVs with a built in receiver and speaker output jacks. You can send the video and audio to your TV and ship the audio to the surround sound. Unfortunately, I don't think they make TVs with speaker output jacks anymore.Originally posted by USF11Im just wondering how I get optical sound to my audio reciever if the HDMI cable goes into the TV.Comment

Re: Playstation 3 Information, hardware, games discussion Part II
You will need a receiver that accept HDMI, which are very few and very expensive. You would connect you HDMI device (blu-ray player) into you receiver and from your reciever you would connect to the HDMI input on your tv. Instead of having to have a component cable and optical cable you will just need an HDMI cable. So basically to fully exploit the next gen formats, not only will many need a new tv but a new receiver as well.Originally posted by USF11It has DVI and HDMI hook-ups. Re: Playstation 3 Information, hardware, games discussion Part II
Shouldn't you be able to just have HDMI from DVD/Blu-Ray/HD-DVD player to TV and an optical cable from the player to the receiver? I have an upscaling DVD player, and though I don't have it hooked up to a surround system, I believe that's how it would work.Originally posted by stiffarmleftYou will need a receiver that accept HDMI, which are very few and very expensive. Of course, but having to buy only one cable is an option.Originally posted by greenegtShouldn't you be able to just have HDMI from DVD/Blu-Ray/HD-DVD player to TV and an optical cable from the player to the receiver? Ahhh, ok. That's how I have my DVD player hooked up. HDMI straight into my TV. Only using one cable is nice.Originally posted by stiffarmleftOf course, but having to buy only one cable is an option.XBL: Mean Greene

Re: Playstation 3 Information, hardware, games discussion Part II
i believe it. that will only mean that the cost will be higher then if it didn't include the HDD. it's as if microsoft dropped the core package then it's saying that 360 comes standard w/ HDD. not hard to believe......Originally posted by KlockerI think I'll wait until an official source is quoted and even then I'll wait until November to see if it really happens. Re: Playstation 3 Information, hardware, games discussion Part II
yea there is basically no difference between the 2 right now.... HDMI was designed for the future..... we won't see what advantages HDMI will have for a long time besides the technology that will only allow HDMI (ex. next-gen media players). Other than that we don't really get an upgrade visually to the naked untrained eye as component cables are more then sufficient at the moment.....Originally posted by FootballForeverI was joking.....LOL, I have my TV setup through HDMI, and to tell you the truth, there's not a big difference at all between HDMI/Component cables.Comment

In this household of three children, it's the best bang for the buck. That's a decision for the parents to make, not Billy.
Not everyone has siblings. I was the only child and pretty much spoiled. I can see what the other guy was saying.“Nobody in the history of the game tried what I just tried. True, and I was in the same boat as you.Originally posted by ThrashaNot everyone has siblings. I was the only child and pretty much spoiled. I can see what the other guy was saying.
I'm just saying that parents with more than one child will have to make a decision, and usually, that comes down to a cost factor. For example, I know a doctors family and the youngest wanted the new 360. The parents said, nope, you can have a DS instead for XMas.
I just find it hard to go out at Christmas and spend $600 to $700 on one item for the kids at Xmas. I know based on my children's friends parents, I'm not the lone ranger.Comment

I haven't heard of a receiver that does/would take HDMI anyways. What would be the point? They're just used for audio. They aren't used as video hubs. Anyone know?
The best way would be to use HDMI to your TV, and just use a digital audio line to your receiver, like someone mentioned earlier. It's also cheaper.Comment
