That does suck. So I guess the hard drive is for the DVR they are developing?

They may change their mind and allow game saves, but this is speculation. I read a few months ago that you could not save games with the HDD, but I guess that "could' change. We will just have to wait and see.

What the hell is the point then? I want a game console to play games all that other crap is extra. It's cool that you can download movies I guess but having to waste money on memory cards just makes that a non-factor in my decision to buy it or not.

what is the HDD for then just advertisement? Just so people will say "Oh man, they have a HDD now, take that xbox", not knowing you wont be able to save games on it.

I dont know about you, but somehow someway with Sony bleeding all of this money, they're going to try to figure out a way to gouge it back from the public.

Thats BS!!! all speculation on your part...I remember reading something like that and it was totally taken out of context.

Only the PS2 hard drive was like that; believe you want but the PS3 WILL be able to save games directly to it.

naw but i don't believe that one bit though, there HAS to be gamesaves on the HDD... it would be rather pointless otherwise.

The pre-orders are $50 down.

I am hearing that it will be around the time of E3 that people start taking pre-orders at least gamestop and eb. I don't know about other places. APOC says he has pre-ordered a couple of PS3's but when I asked him where, I got no response so take that for what its worth.

Actually I can't exactly pre-order yet, just like everyone else. I should have said I am on a few different PS3 lists at 3 places instead. I'm paying them off in full as soon as they start taking money.

I think so too. But, by shipping a HD with the system, I hope Sony knows it will get taken advantage of just like the Xbox. Which is fine by me.

Sony must find a way to recover some costs. What better way than to make consumers buy memory cards for game saves. I know this does not make sense from our perspective, but Sony cares about making money. Of course Sony has been vague and they may not be sure themselves.

I don't think it's true either, but If somehow it is, I will tell you right now, it will be a major Blow to the system, and theres no defending this if it's true. A nextgen system with a HD you can't save games too= a big NO, NO.
