Again, if you can play online with basic, what is the pay service? That makes no sense.Originally posted by APOC -

it makes no sense but if somehow its true, then I will be one happy little man
but I don't think its trueI can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

Obviously we don't know all the differences between the basic (free) service and the member service which you have to pay to be a part of. I can't blame you for being skeptical. E3 will be here soon enough and after it's over I'm willing to bet a whole lot of you are going to jump off Bill Gates yacht and desperately swim towards PS3 paradise island.............Originally posted by ExtremeGamerSo, if there's a pay for play service, what would that entail if you can do everything for free as it is? Like I said, I'll believe it when I see it, I've dealt with Sony's propaganda for years, I still remember when Sony launched the PS2 online, claiming it would have AIM built in amongst other add ons. None of that ever happened.

What doesn't make any sense? They released a few more online details saying that the basic service will allow you to play online and there will also be a premium service. Obviously the premium service will allow you to do more.Originally posted by ExtremeGamerAgain, if you can play online with basic, what is the pay service? That makes no sense.
Have you been to sites you can download a Basic version that has a few key features or you can pay each month for the Premium version with lots of extra bonus features?
So maybe Sony is letting you play online for free, but you have to pay for the community features? (basically it seems like you can play PS2 online or you can upgrade to Xbox Live with all the extra features). But Sony didn't mention that (yet). They may have wanted to get people hype making them think that they get everything with the basic service.

So, you can play online, but you can't have friends lists or a set name? Is that what you mean? After playing Live, if they think that's the "Live Killer", then they already failed.
What that means is everything you, and I mean you, dogged the 360 for coming out with a Core and a Premium system for, you are happy about with PS2 online.Comment

Re: Playstation 3 Information, hardware, games discussion Part II
It's better than Xbox Live already with everything mentioned so far. You can play for free without some lame temporary pass (ala silver membership). That in itself will be a difference maker. Xbox Live isn't as big as everyone thinks it is, just Microsoft and the Xbox diehard people who are always playing on it. More people around the world play PS2 online by far......so much more it's not even funny. I know "Johnny's Mom" and she didn't buy "Johnny" a gold membership when she bought him an Xbox 360 for Christmas because it was an extra 65 bucks or however much it costs now. But when she buys him a PS3 this Christmas, he'll be able to play online for free at least.Originally posted by ExtremeGamerI am using common sense, and it makes no sense.

Huh? This isn't about the Core or Premium systems at all. What that means is everything you, and I mean you, dogged the 360 for coming out with a Core and a Premium system for, you are happy about with PS2 online.Comment

Explain to me how it isn't? You play PS3 online but you have to pay money to have a unique name, friends list, and all the other stuff you claim is better than Live. Two different tiers, same as the Xbox launch. Different, but the same. I just love how the Sony fanboy's view it if comes from Sony, it's great, if not, it's crap. Cracks me up everytime.Originally posted by APOCIt's better than Xbox Live already with everything mentioned so far. You can play for free without some lame temporary pass (ala silver membership). Let me ask you something. With a silver membership, do you get all the features of a gold?Originally posted by ExtremeGamerExplain to me how it isn't? Here's an idea, just maybe, maybe some people don't want to create and account and just want to play. Remember you're not buying a PS3 so what do you care.Comment

That's fine, I can understand that. But then that's not an XBox Live killer as every post makes it out to be is it?Originally posted by backbreakerHere's an idea, just maybe, maybe some people don't want to create and account and just want to play. Re: Playstation 3 Information, hardware, games discussion Part II
I'm sorry, I don't remember dogging 360 at all. Maybe it's the fact that I act so excited about PS3 that makes it seem like I think 360 is inferior. I can't remember dogging 360 for coming with a Core/Premium system...Originally posted by ExtremeGamerI am using common sense, and it makes no sense.

Of course the basic service isn't a "Live Killer". But the subscription service will be able to compete with Live. Notice how it has the same features?Xbox 360 GamertagRAW 910

You are right, you never publically dogged the 360, only voted that your 360 failed at launch and needed repaired.Originally posted by Ice Cream TruckI'm sorry, I don't remember dogging 360 at all. Exactly! Some people aren't gonna give a **** to be a hardcore online member with all the features , they just want to be able to play a game of Madden online for an hour before they head out the door to wherever. This way Sony is catering to their entire fanbase. The diehards wanting an Xbox Live type service get theirs (and then some) while the non-hardcores get their basic service and can play online whenever they want to as well. Everyone is happy.Comment
