Re: Playstation 3 Information, hardware, games discussion Part II

What price did PS2 games debut at? Was it $69? I could've sworn it was.

Sh** if I know. I OWN like 5 games TOGETHER on my Xbox/PS2. To hell if I buy more than that many and keep them. Gamefly is mah sh*t along with Blockbuster.

It's gonna have a HDD too so I can download some arcade games too?

I'll prolly buy one game at launch (that's if it's worth buying. Prolly not, launch games are never worth buying). Gamefly is my sh*t.

But I feel sorry for those who rely heavily on buying their games. The prices on these nextgen console games are insane on the real.

this is and interesting notion.... I just finished Sly Copper (2)... I bought it for 14 or 15bucks... I was done in a week (the game has only 8stages).. if any game for the PS3 sell for 70+bucks... it best last for more than a week....

The reason the people who aren't getting a PS3 are complaining about price is b/c the thing is too expensive to get one.

People who aren't getting one shouldn't be complaining about anything really though. If you're not getting one what do you have to complain about?

I don't understand your logic here Dogg. I'm sure there are many who want to buy a PS3 and some very badly want to buy it but can't because it's too expensive and feel like they'll be missing out on some good gaming.

And there are those who have no choice but to buy a 360.

The cost to play videogames has risen with this generation, unless you're getting a Wii (but most don't consider that this generation). I don't think there is anyone out there who can afford a 360 and all the stuff you "need" to get the most out of it who can't afford a PS3. It is more that people cannot afford both.

Here's what I don't understand, from its debut last year KK stated that this was going to be expensive and even made a snide remark about working overtime to get one. So I expected a big price tag and again I'm willing to bite the bullet. I have a 1080p HDTV and I can't wait to take advantage of Blu Ray movies. I look at it like this, if it fails and it might, I can still watch those movies in HiDef and if HD-DVD prevails by then they will be cheap and I can purchase a standalone.

a diff. of 100 bucks is really not life threatening... given the fact that you don't have to (pay to play) with the PS3... you really save money in the long run.....

50bucks a year or 6mos. or whatever is ridiculous... especially if you been paying it since Xbox1....

I agree with xrams. The truth is to enjoy everything both systems offer, they will both be expensive. The difference is obvious, with the 360 most of the stuff is optional so you are not forced to pay for it. You do have to pay for other things like charging your controllers, that will run you $20. Basically what i'm trying to say is that in the long run both systems will pretty much cost exactly the same if not the 360 being more because Xbox Live, that is if PS3 Online Service is indeed free, to play that is.

yeah, i dunno...i personally couldn't care less about the next DVD format, at least at this point in time. Also, if i wanted to watch one of the formats I'd rather get a standalone player, i don't think game systems are usually as good as a quality standalone (if you want the best playback).

I don't know how reliable this source is, but they just came out and said Sony is a overpriced junky piece of equipment.

Again, I don't know how reliable this source is.

These are the last 2 paragraphs. The rest before that is alot of techno stuff.

Someone screwed up so badly it looks like it will relegate the console to second place behind the 360. All the devs I talked to were lukewarm on the 360 architecture but universally negative on the PS3. Revelations like this go a long way to explain why you keep hearing about simmering problems from the Sony devs.

You end up with a console with half the triangle setup rate of the 360, a crippled CPU that is a bitch to program, and tools that are atrocious compared to the 360. To make matters worse, you have an arrogant set of execs telling us that twice the price is worth it for half the power, a year late. If it isn't already too late, Sony had better do something about this recto-cranial inversion or it may very well sink the console.

I guess I am saying people who don't plan to buy a PS3 for whatever reason shouldn't be complaining about the games being too high priced.

so why criticize the people who are getting a PS3? i've heard it all from you're overpaying, to you're getting rammed without vaseline, etc., etc.

if you're looking at price, Both consoles and games are expensive. i mean come on now. you're telling me that 360 games at $60 a pop is cheap?
