FF I know I told you to trust me earlier that the PS3 was going to launch this fall(November), but man at work yesterday I found out some horrifying news.

The PS3 may not show at E3 and may not make it out this year

This is all hear-say so take it for what its worth, but after a conference call we were informed that the PS3 may not make its estimated date of this fall. In fact, due to hardware issues (mainly blu-ray) the system may not even show at this year's E3.

The statement was that if the PS3 shows at E3 the same as the 360 last year,(with playable demos, gameplay footage running) then everything should be ok. If it doesn't, then don't expect to see the PS3 until Winter/Spring of 2007.

If there is one positive thing I can say for Sony this time around, its that at least they are not intentionally putting out a broken system. At least it seems that way.

I may break down and buy a 360. And to think, I had one but sold it.

WOW! this could be good and bad for Sony. It allows them to better develop the system but then the hindsight is that MS will have 2 XMAS's under their belt if PS3 launches in Spring 07. It's that stupid Blu Ray player that is causing most of the production problems. I know Sony wants to stick with their BR, but they should just not even put in the PS3. It will bring the cost of the system down + it will give them the opportunity to get this thing out sooner.

Well look at it this way, the developers have had a lot of time with the devkits so they should be able to come up with much better launch titles than what was on the 360.

Well look at it this way, the developers have had a lot of time with the devkits so they should be able to come up with much better launch titles than what was on the 360.

Plus if stand alone Blu-Ray players have been out for a while, maybe the price point will have lowered by then.

Isn't that believed to be the issue to begin with? The PS3 can't be released until Blu-Ray is ready. Whenever that is...

I thought that they were having problems getting blu-ray to work on the ps3.

That's what I had read also. If Sony were smart, why not just place a DL-DVD drive into the PS3 and just release it in the fall and leave the Blu-Ray alone for the stand alone players.

It just boggles my mind. They will be giving Microsoft such a jump start it won't even be funny. Look at how many guys on here alone will buy a 360 if this system gets pushed back to Spring 07.

Rodster, I wish I had a 360. I got one, then sold it to raise funds to get a PS3

Yeah, I am kicking myself in the butt now.

Sony won't give up on blu-ray technology because they have so many movie companies backing them(Fox, disney) to name to name two big ones.

And as for my sources at where I work,I will trust them over anyone else.

I guess I'm appreciate my 360 a lot more, the game ports were just killing me latley, but I just keep thinking about MADDEN/NCAA, that keeps me spirtits high...LOL


Anyway back on the topic, I agree with Candy 100%, Sony should just let the Blue-Ray thing go, and worry about getting the system out there, inmy eyes sony is really shooting themselves in the foot with this. I posted the other day that the kid at Ebgames told me about this new possible delay, and you all thought I was crazy. Who's crazy now

This would never have been a problem if the SONY (BluRay) - TOSHIBA (HD-DVD) technology merger of these drives would have gone through last year. They could have had the best of both worlds in 1 technology and than the PS3 would still see a timely release.

But no, everyone wants to bring out their own technology. I don't see either format taking over, as it will be something for VIDEOPHILES like the way of BETAMAX, LASERDISC, and DIVX.

The Blue-Ray is going to affect gamers for the worse, since its a 1st generation drive expect the load times to be like the PSP with the UMD's.

Sony needs to the Blue Drive to convince people non-gamers to buy the system. If PS2 didnt have a dvd drive we would probably be playing are dreamcast 2's right now.

With the analogy you just used, than since the XBOX 360 didn't come out with the HD-DVD drive like it was supposed to originally, the PS3 will trounce this system into the ground like it did with the Dreamcast.

I'm sorry, but people didn't buy the PS2 just for the DVD drive, it was an added bonus which ended up breaking on many people after they were watching movies.

Sony needs to convince people that this is a multimedia machine with the route they are taking, but in the end it may just hurt them since they are having some issues with Blu Ray in the PS3 at the moment.
