I'm having a hell of a time getting this to work. I went ahead and uninstalled everything before starting my downloads (downloading the FCOM and the Hi Res texture mod). When I tried to activate the FCOM in OBMM, it told me that some files conflicted with other files then it stopped responding : / Not to mention that that when I DLed the texture mod, it doesn't even show up on the OBMM. I must be dumb.

All I can say is read the instruction very carefully. It's really easy to get something wrong.

I think I got it all taken care of. Now just to create a decent looking character. Tried using the Beautiful People mod with this but I was having issue with the eyes.

With OBGE you have to put the settings in yourself.

C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\oblivion\Data\Shaders

Go there (or wherever your Oblivion is installed) and make a filed named: shaderlist.txt and in it put the names of the effects you want for example godrays.fx and then save the file.

There's also screen effects: http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=16323
That'll add an item you use to configure it from in game.

Try the Synx race,good for male and great for female.

I tried but there was either something plastered on the video,the FPS was too low on the video or the quality was terrible.

Gonna be giving this a shot again. Tried playing it once on the 360 a while back but couldn't get into it. With it on sale on Steam, I picked it up.

If I'm looking to play through the game with the best graphics mods available, which would those be? There's so many out there that I can't quite figure out which ones to download. Recommendations?

I might just have to start another game and just say **** the main quest and do all the side quests. I just can't get myself to finish the main quest to save my life. I hate those damn gates.

I couldn't just do side quests without doing the main quest first....just with all the chaos going on with the gates and the Emperor in a Temple to 'buy time' I just had to do it. But now I enjoy going to castles and shooting arrows at the counts and countesses to see how close I can get to their heads without hitting them...

But yeah, I had to run through the gates, and close them out. I'd hate traveling through the beautiful land, and then all of the sudden, hear the thundering and the sky turn red...

We're probably past the statute of limitations on spoilers for this game, but just the same:

The gates don't start popping up everywhere until after you close the Kvatch gate, right? If you went side questing right out of the tutorial area you wouldn't have to worry about any of them but that one, right?
