:y4: Yeah, I think that'd be wise not to do so Admiral. That'd be like commiting suicide, lol.

On another note, maybe someone can enlighten me... what does a "Feather" Sigil stone do? Does it make you quicker? Or make everything in your inventory I guess light as a feather?

Feather Spells increase the amount of weight that you can carry. With my Thief I can carry over 700 in wieght be cause of my Grey Cowl and a few other fewather spells. Makes getting money easy with all the stuff you can carry.

I think most of the stuff I have I got from dungeons that already had feath enchants on them. You can also get your stuff enchanted with feather spells (or any spells fpr that matter) after some quests in the Mage Guild.

                ***SPOILERS***

When you finish the Thieves guild quest line you get the grey cowl that has a 200 feather spell on it in addition to sneak increase and life detection.

Also each town "focuses" on a magic line in the mage's guild hall. So Alteration for Feather would be in Cheydinhal, Illusion ends up as Bravil, Destruction is in Skingrad, etc.

First place I check when looking for a spell in any line (and the guy doesn't have the Arcane University available to him) is in the town that focuses on it.

Re: Official Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Discussion

I need some help on a new character. I've been playing for around eight hours with my warrior hybrid Nord and just don't like him. I have to use heavy armor, so he plods around...plus he's slow as molasses. I'm looking to create a fighter/thief with some restoration but need some help. This is what I'm looking for:

1)A human character (Nord, Imperial, Redguard)

2)I want to use swords and bows

3)I want to be able to equip both armors for sneaking and heavy melee fighting

4)I'm planning on doing the Fighter's Guild, Arena, and Dark Brotherhood sidequests

5)I would like Restoration magic since potions get expensive

6)I want to be a bit of a thief too

Hopefully one of the Oblivion geniuses can help me with this stuff. I just get simply overwhelmed at the creation options.

Also, how do you get new spells? I thought they leveled up like in other RPG's. Can I just buy them? How do I know if I can cast them? Thanks for the help!

                        Nord:
                        Strength and Agility
                        Sign: The thief
                        Skills:
                        Blade
                        Marksman
                        Light Armor
                        Security (or alteration)
                        Sneak (or illusion)
                        Restoration
Heavy Armor or another skill of your choosing.

I would choose Nord since they get bonuses to Blade, Restoration and Heavy Armor

I say you could choose another skill for your 7th since Nords already get a +10 bonus for heavy armor and it would level up pretty quickly through use.

Also, I would choose the thief as your sign since it gives a bonus to agility, which would help marksman, security and sneak, which would be your Nords biggest weakness to start.

I am having a pretty good time with my Breton character. He wears heavy armor uses a sword and casts spells.

All the things you are going to want to do will be hard to fit into one template. You'll be leveling up the skills for a while before most of them become useful.

I'd go with the following stuff.

                            Race: Breton
                            Birthsign: Warrior

                            Skills:
                            Restoration
                            Heavy Armor
                            Blades
                            Marksman
                            Sneak
                            Security
                            Illusion

I say go Breton if you are going to do anything spell related with your character. They have a pretty high bonus for magicka and in resoration skills.

You only have to have one kind of armor. You can sneak just as well in Heavy as Light. The only thing that really matters is the weight of your boots I believe. As long as you take them off before sneaking you should be ok.

The extra magicka and bonus to Restoration are good to have since potions are expensive.

The thief skills are there for leveling up. Might take a bit of time since there is no bonus to them for Bretons.

I threw illusion in there because when you get the higher level spells there are good ones for turning enemies on themselves, making it easier to fight them.

Your sneaking skills will need to be worked on but that will be pretty easy if you sneak everywhere. =P

That's just my take on your situation.

Hehe.. Isn't that the truth. =p

I have my Marksman/Theif and now my Casting hero. Both style of play are COMPLETELY different from the other. That makes the replay value of this game insane.
