I prefer Morrowind to the both of them, in all truthfulness.

As do I. Nothing can touch that game. The whole enemies leveling with you thing really sucked. Plus the whole environment is morrowind was great.

Oblivion became a troll to me once the gates started opening everywhere.

I've put in close to 200 hours in Oblivion and I'm still not done the main quest. I think it's one of my all-time favorite games along with Skyrim. It's hard to say one is better than the other but I do think I like the leveling system better in Oblivion. I'm probably in the minority on that point.

One thing that amazes me while playing Oblivion is how often they mention Skyrim. It's very cool how the Elder Scrolls universe is connected.

I picked up Morrowind recently via Steam but it's so hard to get into it with the dated graphics.

                for me

                Morrowind > Skyrim > Oblivion

though, probably not fair to Oblivion as I never really got into mods with that game like I've done with Skyrim. Morrowind was just a great game, even without mods, though mods made it even more fun.

I agree. Morrowing seemed like it had a much more diverse regions on its map which made travel actually feel like traveling and visiting different cultures. Coupled with the fact that you had to either use a Silt Strider or magic to fast travel it felt more realistic. If Morrowind had a better journal I'd be in heaven.

Get the mod that updates the textures/graphics. You'll be impressed as it looks just as good as a 360 game. Unfortunately the animations will be of the same generic variety.

Did you also enjoy not having a map marking pointing you which direction to go in everytime. I loved having to read my journal and figure out where to go. Maybe it was just me.

Morrowind was the first RPG I tried and, as a kid, I could not get into it. It just overwhelmed me and I lacked the patience I have now.

Yea forgot about that. You pretty much had to rely on the directions of the NPC with no marker of any sort. I liked that to. Often times, you'd find a random quest and be completely of course.

Exactly. Too much hand holding in the new ones. I have to say though. TES games are my favorite series of all time.

It took me a minute to get into as well. The first time I tried it, I was lost in the first city and kept dying facing competition that was much tougher than me. Not many games throw you out to the wolves like Morrowind did. After making it to Balmora than the game started to open up for me and I fell in love with that fact that I can approach missions in any order and take my time doing so. Hundreds of hours in, you'll still find new factions to work for.
