I'm with those that don't trust it.

I never ever look at screenshots before the game is actually released anymore. Too many things change to really bother - and you never know when they're real either.

I saw them. I also saw all the playcalling screens in the Madden trailer, too...
Those, if you'll remember, turned out to be 100% bogus.

If you believe that a life bar and command grid in a single image make it "real" - well, there's a lot of PR firms that will be very happy to hear that.

I never said it was fake - I don't know either way. I'm merely pointing out that we've been burned before by such things, and it's wise to be skeptical.

Factor 5 isn't EA though... Do you know their work?

^^^Those look real to you guys right??? GoW looks wayy better Lair, but yet its graphics have never come into question.

And to the people saying Sony lies, Factor 5 isn't Sony...But I guess going by you guys logic, anyone who works with Sony is guilty by association

Gears of War has yet to be played by the media, all footage from the game has been play by developer's showing off the game...Much like many PS3 games..

And there are alot of PS3 movies out there with gameplay in them, people just choose to ignore them.

Also don't make it sound like PS3 can't handle Gears of War; GoW looks wayy better, we've seen it in motion..But yet Lair, a game of less detail isn't believable? lol

As for Lair

Pay attention to the last part, it shown behind closed doors.

The lecture was on Thursday morning, and it went over really well. The talk description hadn't made it into the conference schedule (not even the white sheet addendum they add to the bags!) and I was worried that not many people would come.

I mean, would you get to the show at 9 in the morning for something you didn't even know existed? But surprisingly I had a full house and people had to be turned away at the door. Okay, it was a small room. But it's still a nice feeling to have. I showed two Lair demos on my PS3 devkit and looked at various production assets in detail, fielded questions and even managed to finish on time (that's a first for me!). From what I hear the feedback has been very positive, and Softimage seemed to be happy with it, as well.

Let's see - OS called MLB '06 the greatest sports game on the PSP, gave the PS2 version a perfect 10, gave the PSP unit a perfect score, and we've hosted their Developer Diaries and lauded them during NBA All-Star Weekend... yeah, we obviously hate Sony.

Agreed 100%. Since we've all been duped by that sort of stuff before - and myself in person, mind you - I'm skeptical of any and all "previews" of that variety - including Gears of War.

Name one. I work with Sony directly every week - they'd love to show me some if they had any. I'm sure they will at E3, and when there are media types getting hands-on with playable builds, then I'll get excited.

Nobody's said that. The Xbox 360 and PS3 are same-generation systems, no matter when each ends up being released. They are similarly capable.

So was Killzone. That showing was an out-and-out farce - a bald-faced lie designed to dupe the less tech-savvy media and lure them away from Xbox 360's playable builds. It worked, and now everyone's doing it.
"Behind closed doors" means nothing - take it from someone who's been there.

And yes, I'm fully aware of who Factor 5, is - thank you. Yes, they've historically been an excellent studio, and that's why there's reason for optimism here. It's possible that's a screenshot from gameplay, even though the "target render" is now an industry standard in marketing.

Optimism is one thing. Gullibility is another entirely.

Not sure about the media, but people at the Zero Hour Event got to play Gears of War.

PS2 KING, I gave up on these guys a long time ago. It is what it is, they try to sugar coat it and say they are not but their actions always show otherwise. Its always the same cast of characters too, make a postive PS3 post and these guys are like roaches when the lights are turned off.
