Re: New Lair Screenshot. WOW.
Played this game at a friends house for little tonight before going out...
Came in, thought to myself wow the game looks pretty damn good.
Then came the controls... WTF.
I canceled my pre-order a month ago... I don't think I'm going to even rent this.Comment

Re: New Lair Screenshot. WOW.
I should have held off purchasing this yesterday, I guess this teaches me a lesson. I'm just waiting for EG now to come along and tell me I told you so.LOL!
Rod, the graphics, story, and presentation are excellent. Its those ****ing controls that I see people getting frustrated with this game, if they would have used the analog sticks the game would have been much, much better.
I think before I even think of getting Heavenly Sword, I will wait for some impressions first.
Hopefully you can sell it.Comment

Re: New Lair Screenshot. WOW.
It still strikes me as odd that all the negative reviews of this game focus on the controls. But I've seen several people mention that after playing through all the tutorials (more than once, even) the game is not just good, but great. Even the pro reviews are opposed in this way. We're seeing 9/10 reviews and 4/10 reviews. That's just bizarre. I can't remember a game with such diametrically opposed impressions.
I'm as intrigued to play this now because of that than I would have been otherwise. I'll be renting this soon.I am become death
Do not underestimate my apathy
Chances guys who claim a game sucks will cease posting in a forum devoted to that game: 3%Comment

Re: New Lair Screenshot. WOW.
Well the 9/10 reviews are suspect (PLAY magazine) where as the Big 3 gave it 4.9/6/4.5
the hype and lack of PS3 AAA titles are causing some to still cling to hope for this game.
I know 2 people that own it and they are Sony fans and at best say it's a 6.5 as a game.
Watching it for the production values is higher though.Comment

Advent Rising was slammed in the reviews, but I still liked it. You are correct EG, that as long as you like it, who cares what others think.Comment

Re: New Lair Screenshot. WOW.
The game is excellent all around, its the controls that really detract from that fun no matter how much time you spend with the tutorials.

Re: New Lair Screenshot. WOW.
I made it to the 7th or 8th level............its a big battle on a bridge where ice dragons are attacking, the villians are dropping boar like beasts, and there are soldiers attacking the people that I'm trying to save. Like I said, the game all around is excellent - storyline, graphics are beautiful.....the draw distance is very good, voice acting is well done, and the CGI is next gen. Its the controls that hamper the game.
The first few hours I was getting the hang of it on day 1 and it wasn't so bad, but as I started getting into the later levels it did become a bit too much with the SUXAXIS. I wish there was a way for them to patch up the controls and add analog controls, I think that this game with analog controls would really be a 8.5 to 9.0 quality. The controls bump this game to about 6.0-6.5 area for me because I can see people getting tired and frustrated moving their arms around, etc.
For now, I'm done with this game............if they do release some kind of patch that changes the controls, then yes I'll play it again. Right now I do have it up on ebay so I can get most of my money back. With MOH: Airborne, Stanglehold, and NHL08 out these next 2 weeks I just don't have time for frustrating type games. LOL!Comment

Re: New Lair Screenshot. WOW.
Lair can be played on the PSP via RemotePlay
No, this is not a joke. Lair can be played on PSP through PS3's Remote Play functionality. As discovered by Dubbedinenglish on the PlayStation forums, this is quite possibly the first Blu-ray PS3 game to run successfully on the PSP. By reducing the visual quality and increasing the response time, the game is actually quite playable. In fact, because the game uses the PSP's analog stick instead of tilt controls, it actually controls better than the PS3 counterpart.

Re: New Lair Screenshot. WOW.
I don't get the point. The only use I can see for that is if someone can't control their tv and just has to play that game.Originally posted by BlzerLet me assure you that I am a huge proponent of size, and it greatly matters. Don't ever let anyone tell you otherwise.
If I went any bigger, it would not have properly fit with my equipment, so I had to optimize. I'm okay with it, but I also know what I'm missing with those five inches. :)Comment

Absolutely stupid IMO. I'm glad I did not buy this $60 turkey or I would be fuming right now.Comment

Re: New Lair Screenshot. WOW.
No what I see Sony again not getting it right. How in the hell do you sell a $60 which controls like crap on your mega console only to have it play on a machine it was not intended for.

From reading the posts about being able to play on the psp, you still cannot play it correctly as the l2 and r2 buttons cant be used on a psp? dont have one so i dont know, but then that means you cant brake or land the dragon?
i think you lose out a bit on what was the positives about the game; that being the graphics and sound as well as the loss of the l2 and r2 buttons.Comment
