Re: Nintendo Wii (Revolution) Information, hardware, games discussion

Well if you think about it... iPod doesn't look like it makes any sense either. But it grew on everyone.

Maybe it's because Wii just sounds stupid. Wii. I dunno. Doesn't seem natural. Doesn't affect my buying decision. I still plan on copping it as a 2nd console.

You shouldn't rip on someone's spelling then proceed to do this.

Back on topic, I think Nintendo should have spent a little more time researching the international effects of this name.

          Madden Wii interview.

I think you're going to get a great glimpse of how Madden is going to play on Wii at E3 2006
As for graphics, we'll be showing Madden in 480p and 16x9 widescreen mode running at 60 frames per second. I think it looks great. I think it looks really good.
So, you take the controller, jerk it up to snap. Quarterback now has the ball. Your passing icons are now up. Take the wand controller and you'll see that the four directions on its D-Pad represent four of your receivers; the A button is your fifth receiver. Point to one of those receivers that you want to receive the ball and with your hand gesture a throwing motion to pass. Now, the harder you throw, the more that's going to be a bullet pass. The softer and the more you lob a throw, the more that it's going to be a lob. When you receive the ball, you run with the analog stick on the nunchuck and if you want to juke, you use the nunchuck to gesture it. And if you want to stiff-arm, you use the wand.

Racing Title for Wii to Show at E3

"I'm going to give one little secret," Fils-Aime said. "Only one little secret, and hopefully I won't lose my job. We're going to show a racing game at E3 where you use the core controller in a very different way. That will answer all the questions to how you'll play a racing game."

          October Launch?

"So when you go to EB in October or November, whenever this thing comes out, are you going to go, 'I would like to get Madden for Wii'? What do you say?"

Matt: "Yeah, in October when it comes out, I will probably say, 'I would like to get Madden for Wii."

Or the male genitalia? Or just how to most English speaking Americans it sounds silly and "kiddy," which is exactly what has plagued Nintendo for years now.

Dude. Marketing is what pays my bills.

And the "Wii" is ten times more adult of a name than "Revolution". Apparently you don't understand Nintendo's strategy of branding with the Wii that is very closely modeled to Apple's branding model, especially that of the iPod.

And I'm sorry to hear that you associate the word "We" with urine. How mature of you. So do you think of urine as well whenever someone says "We" or a French person says "yes?"

So basically everyone (with the exception of your high and mighty self) is an immature ******.

I don't see how wii can possibly be more adult than Revolution, the Revolution was a great name and exactly what they needed, whereas iPod is just a damn good catchy name, IMO.

Hah, hopefully you make enough to stay off the food stamps.

I don't see how you can determine that Wii is more "adult" than Revolution. One could easily make an argument as to why Wii sounds immature, but I can't think of one for Revolution. Maybe the Beatles were writing songs for kids the whole time?

If you were in marketing (and any good at it) you would know all of the perceptions of the word Wii. If you do not then you would be making a mistake much like the previously mentioned one with the Chevy Nova back in the day (for any of you unaware, Nova translated to "no go" in spanish so no one in spanish-speaking countries were willing to purchase one). And as someone else mentioned, Wii is a known slang term in French for piss. Would you market a console to North America called the Nintedo Piss? I would hope not. Since you're willing to argue that word Revolution is immature though, I wouldn't be surprised by any answer you gave.

What about the pee S pee? That's twice as much urine as the Wii...

Give the name a rest I say.

It's pretty much all anyone has to talk about, other than the controller which has been talked about to death already.

If I went any bigger, it would not have properly fit with my equipment, so I had to optimize. I'm okay with it, but I also know what I'm missing with those five inches. :)
