I sold my wife on the Wii by buying her a copy of Trauma Center and getting her hooked on it, then telling her a sequel was coming out at launch for the Wii.

Haha, done. Right now I'm trying to "convince" my gf that I'm not just wasting all my money by buying these systems. I tell her it's no different than her spending money on makeup and pedicures all the time... Plus, I try to make it look like I do it for her a little too by buying Nintendogs and what not...

The best way to sell your girlfriend/wife on something like this is to get them involved. My wife and I have always played video games together thru almost 9 years of being together, and it's a hobby for both of us. I always buy her a game or two for each system and she plays it religiously and doesn't ever complain about me spending money or time on video games. I showed her the minigames in New Super Mario Bros, and she's been playing them like crazy for the last few days and I got her Trauma Center for the DS as well. She also has bought most every arcade title for the 360 and has at least played them all. I convinced her on the Wii by showing her screens of the sequel for Trauma Center, as well as being able to play all the old games.

If true, this should be good.

                            Wii Before PS3
Sources say Nintendo to launch its new generation console before rival Sony does PS3.
                            by Matt Casamassina

June 12, 2006 - At the Electronics Entertainment Expo 2006 last May in Los Angeles, Sony announced that its forthcoming PlayStation 3 console would debut worldwide on November 17 of this year. The company also revealed the console's two price points. Nintendo, on the other hand, was much vaguer about its new generation Wii console, choosing only to say that it would be less expensive than competitors and would arrive around the globe sometime in the "fourth quarter."

Despite what the Big N has said publicly, publishers and developers have prepping many of their Wii titles for an October release. This in of itself is not proof that Wii will also debut in October, but the data certainly doesn't conflict with the argument.

On top of everything else, this week industry sources have relayed that - in something of a surprise attack -- "Nintendo is planning to launch Wii before PlayStation 3." The latest word jives with publisher release calendars, whose Wii titles are scheduled in many cases for a mid-to-late October debut or, in some cases, very early November.

Unsubstantiated rumors around the Web have further suggested that Wii could debut on November 6 of this year. IGN Wii is unable to validate these reports.

Whether Wii launches in October or in early November, it seems clear that the system is on track to debut earlier than expected, and if the latest reports are to be believed, in advance of rival Sony's PlayStation 3. A two-to-three week headstart on PS3 could give the significantly cheaper Wii an even greater advantage.

Re: Nintendo Wii (Revolution) Information, hardware, games discussion

New titles for a new console sometimes begin shipping as early as 2 weeks before the launch of the system (I know some PS2 titles did this) so this article does not offer much for a Wii release date. I think the only thing we can rule out is a launch after the PS3. I'd expect a week or 2 earlier than the PS2, but that is just a gut feeling and not really backed by anything substantial on my part.
