Looks like I'll be picking up the Wii. I showed my gf Nintendo Power (I got it for free when I bought a 360 at game crazy) and she said she would like to play it.

....My only concern is that Nintend Wii will throw Kids titles down our throats? Can anyone shed some light on this. I heard Nhl 2007 won't be on Wii!!! However if the wii is 200.00 you can get a wii and a 360 for the price of the Ps3... UMMMMMMMMM Nintendo may have made a great choice to not put all this technology in their console. They will not loose money and can gain tons of momentum in time for next gen 2.....

Re: Nintendo Wii (Revolution) Information, hardware, games discussion

I sat down and watched some Wii videos on Gametrailers and I am excited about this machine. The Wii looks like it has the chance to give gamers the kind of fun that comes from owning a Nintendo machine. The cube did not do well but had a handful of games that were superb. Zelda WW was not the game people wanted it to be, but on its own was incredible fun. Eternal Darkness was an incredible experience that has yet to be duplicated. Metroid Prime redefined the FPS for me and was the first game to really make that genre feel more like a virtual adventure.

I hope the machine is able to live up to its potential. With analysts backing it, game sites impressed and the public excited third parties should support this machine more than the last one.

Re: Nintendo Wii (Revolution) Information, hardware, games discussion

July 25, 2006 - A mysterious press release from Nintendo today teases that a message detailing the Wii launch date may be hidden within its text. Now, as the release says, it may all be a rouse to get us to read about Nintendo's other games, but we just can't help ourselves.

The release reads: "Perhaps the secret to the launch information for Wii is somehow encoded in the text of this news item. You might want to pore over it for a few hours before staying up all night to debate phraseology and comma placement with your friends online."

Take a look for yourself and see if you can decode anything from it. What we can tell after a good thirty seconds or so of scrutiny is that a game is releasing every Monday except October 2, November 20, and November 27. Nintendo has hinted that the Wii would launch sooner than later, so that points to... October 2nd?

Separate rumors have suggested that Nintendo could be planning to launch Wii directly after the Tokyo Game Show, which takes place in late September.

Of course, none of this is confirmed, but that shouldn't stop you from speculating.

Let us know the results of your efforts. Good luck.

              "The Wii Hardware
              - Nintendo Wii’s ‘Broadway’ CPU operates at 729MHZ with a maximum bandwith of 1.9gbyte/sec.
              - Nintendo Wii’s ‘HollyWood’ GPU is clocked at 243MHZ, the internal memory of it includes 3mb of embedded graphics memory and 24megabytes of high speed main memory.
              - 64megabytes of GDDR3 (MEM2) as the external main memory. Just like the internal memory, it can be accessed from the CPU and GPU with a maximum bandwidth of 4gbytes/sec and can also store programs in the MEM2.
              - The GPU of the Wii is identical to the GC’s but it is on average 1.5X faster."

                Okay two things:

                1) Your picture is creepy
                2) So in a nutshell the Wii is a slightly advanced GC with innovative controls?

                            Yes, but I don't believe 16x9 is a mandate.

Yes, I also think that the Wii is an XBOX in terms of processing power since their both at the 733 Mhz mark.

Nintendo is just fooling themselves here if they don't have 16:9 and 480p at the most. Not that it matters, but with the move to next gen 16:9 & 480p would be welcome.
