I will be getting a Wii, I love Nintendo's consoles.

I like that off-kilter thinking by Nintendo and its third-party developers.

Why wouldn't you see a game like that on the 360 or ps3? Nintendo is the king of releasing sequels so I don't see how they are any different from microsoft or sony.

If I went any bigger, it would not have properly fit with my equipment, so I had to optimize. I'm okay with it, but I also know what I'm missing with those five inches. :)

Well, have you ever seen a surgery game on a Microsoft or Sony console? I surely have not.

I'm not talking about surgery games. I'm talking about offbeat games.

Let's see: How many games featuring the ability to operate on a patient in a trauma room are on the Xbox 360 or planned for the PS3 launch? Zero.

The point is, Nintendo's franchises are quirky and playful. They are a departure from the military/sci-fi first-person action shooters and licensed sports games that flood the 360 and the PS3.

Trauma Center reminds me of something that was on the Dreamcast. That console had more funky titles in three years than most consoles do in two generations. Seaman, Shenmue, Space Channel 5, Chu Chu Rocket, Jet Grind Radio, etc., etc., etc.

            Take care,

Which is an offbeat game. I think his criticism is fair. Sony and Microsoft both cater more to the mainstream crowd while Nintendo serves a niche.

All I know is, Trauma Center is a sweet game for the DS, I can't imagine how cool it'll be for the Wii with that controller.

You're acting as if the offbeat games are somehow limited to the nintendo system which isn't the case. Both the ps2 and the xbox had games like that so it's just a matter of time.

You also complained about how both the xbox 360 and the ps3 are planned to have sequels while nintendo pretty much does nothing but make sequels and is ready to cash in on mario/zelda/other old characters at any possible time.

At launch? Maybe Conker for the Xbox, but that game sucked very hard.

Not at launch I meant just over the lifespan of the system. If you're just talking about at launch then you are right, neither one of those systems had and in the ps3's case likely won't have a "quirky" game.

True. But Trauma Center is a third-party game made by Altus, not Nintendo. Most of the third-party Xbox 360 games to this date, and definitely at launch, rotated in the shooter-sports-racing game axis that dominates MS' and Sony's vision of next-gen gaming.

Nintendo milks its franchises, but at least its franchises, especially Zelda, are outside the shooter-sports-racing realm. I like those genres very much, but I also like to have choices outside of them. Nintendo offers more of them, especially on its handhelds.

See any quirky titles like Nintendogs on the Xbox or PS3? Didn't think so.

Being able to reload a shotgun by pumping the left controller up and down is awesome! Opening doors is nice too!
