Ah, now I see what my problem on No One Knows is - not only can I not beat it (or even come close) on Medium, I'm consistently 3-starring it on Easy! That probably ain't gonna get it done, and I think I have some practicing to do before going back to Medium.

Come to think of it, I think this was the one song I failed on my Easy playthrough. The first time I played it I thought the song was over on the first break, and started to put the guitar down just before the solo came up! Needless to say I was dead meat (already in the red before that)

Wow....finally got through Medium. No One Knows went down a few tries after I went to practice on Easy, skipped over Crossroads since the final group of songs opened up, and from there it was smooth sailing until Bark at the Moon (cowboys from hell only took 2 tries, to my surprise). Those solos....wow. It took me about 20 tries to beat the song, and there's no way I would've done it without star power dragging me along through the solos. I finished deep in the flashing red, to the point where I probably would've failed for missing another note or two.

I guess now I'll start to see how evil this game can get. I did a little bit of sliding on some of the Bark at the Moon chords, so hopefully hitting that 5th button won't be as difficult as it seems.

Now they're being countersued:

"The Ant Commandos filed a counter claim against Activision and RedOctane for "violating Federal Antitrust legislation pertaining to the Guitar Hero game and controller bundle." Basically, the whole dispute boils down to the controller design and layout, which TAC developed for the PSOne back in 1999... that looks strikingly similar to the design of the Guitar Hero controller many of us have rocked out with. TAC claims that Activision and RedOctane are infringing on their trade dress by copying their design, as well as making use of this design in the creation of Guitar Hero.

What's TAC seeking from the Federal Justice System? Well, they want (in addition to the counterclaim) the courts to forbid further infringement on their trade dress by Activision and RedOctane. Also, they'd like it RedOctane and Activision were prevented from bundling the game with the guitar controller to allow "fair competition in the market... so consumers no longer have to purchase both the Guitar Hero game and RedOctane controller, but rather may purchase the game and have their choice..." Perfect example of how money can corrupt anybody. Red Octane and Harmonix have been mooching off Konami's games for years, and I'm not just talking about Guitar Freaks.

MTV has bought Harmonix:

"MTV Networks (MTVN), a division of Viacom Inc. (NYSE: VIA, VIA.B), today announced a definitive agreement to acquire Harmonix Music Systems, Inc., developer of the PlayStation 2 hit Guitar Hero and other music gaming titles, on behalf of MTV. Under the terms of the transaction, MTV Networks will acquire all of the outstanding stock of Harmonix for $175 million in cash." So now Activision owns Red Octane wich was the publisher and the maker of the controller and MTV own Harmonix who made the game to go with the controller.

They said just because it's not in GH 2 doesn't mean it won't be in GH 3. Marcus said he's going to sit outside of Jimmy Page's house with a "Please take our money" sign and Ted is going to stalk Metallica,also encouraged fans to email the bands and tell them to be in the game. Said to include about how great it is having Dave Mustaine in both games when sending to Metallica.

Hangar 18 was the 11 solo song but there's 3 songs that'll be harder than it.

Marcus plays some guitar including 2 Iron Maiden songs,a spanish verision of Pantera's ****in' Hostile and The Beast & Harlot but when asked to play a Metallica song he says "I'm not playing any Metallica untill they play with us."

From the preview goh posted, I thought this sounds like a great addition:

"Harmonix is hoping to ease the pain by letting you practice specific portions of songs at a slowed down pace. For example, let's say you can't get the hang of the beginning of "Miserlou" on Expert. Instead of knocking down the difficulty, you can play through that segment with the same amount of notes, just a lot slower."

If I had this in the first game I may have been able finally 5-star Cowboys From Hell on difficult!

If one can't get past average on the main riff from Cowboys From Hell, Bark at the Moon is a lot easier (assuming you build up enough Star Power for the right segments). I don't think that I've ever failed at Bark at the Moon since the first time I beat it on Expert to beat the game, and I've played it about 8 more times. I've only beat Cowboys From Hell once since I beat it in Career Mode out of another 5 times maybe.

You got it... they key is to hit the main riff on the hard songs, or else you're just wasting a chance to get your rock meter back up. I have a much harder time with the main riff in Cowboys From Hell for some reason, but I can hit enough of it to get through the song consistantly.

For some reason I just seemed to have a "natural talent" for this game. I read everywhere how hard Cowboys From Hell and Bark at the Moon were on expert and was scared to death when I got there in my career. Then shockingly I passed both of them on my first try! Granted it was ugly and I was in the red a few times, but by saving up my star power I have always gotten through these songs.

I haven't played in a month or so, but I left off with 5 stars on every song except for around 7 left on expert. My wife got sick of hearing the same songs over and over and I eventually gave up.

glad to see Wolfmother in there but I wish it was a different song
