Why would it be good to learn the first one before the second? Is it not the same game with new songs and maybe a few new features? Like this year's Madden compared to one 2 years ago?

Perhaps Guitar Hero II is designed a little bit more around people that have played the first one, like it may not necessarily have songs as basic as the first one or something.

Also, while this isn't a reason to play the first one before the second one, it's always fun to play the greatest amount of songs possible.

I was figuring it might be easier to learn playing with GH1 before going on to GH2. I've had some fun and trouble playing the first one at Best Buy. I can possibly see GH2 being a bit more hard for myself. Like Blzer said, it's good to have a nice amount of songs to play with.

But by then the 360 version will probably be out next year combining the best songs from both PS2 versions.

ah I gotcha. It's always nice to have a whole bunch of songs, I just wasn't sure if the complexity level was going to be that much higher. I figured it would all be tied to the different levels each song has. Thanks guys.

GH2 is actually probably going to be easier than 1 due to the training modes and what not.

EG apprently didn't see them attempting to play Misirlou on gamespot's show the other day.

They're re-releasing Guitar Hero 1 by it self the same day as Guitar Hero 2 so you can buy them both then if you don't want to buy 2 bundles and get to choose if you want a red or black guitar. GH1 was $10 cheaper when it first came out.

I'm buying the bundle this time around as well. The multiplayer is just too good not to have 2 guitars. Between my wife and buddies playing, it's a must to own 2 guitars IMO.

Tier #7 is the most awful section of music to be in any game ever. Anthrax is the only decent song/band.
Freebird and Hangar 18 are the last songs.

Is Guitar Hero going to ever go a little more mellow with their songs, or are they going to create certain installments specified for different genres of music?

Anyway after that hilarity...

A lot of the bonus songs in the first were mild and there was rumored plans to have genre specific games but there hasn't been anything on it after the first rumor. Like they say though "If it's too loud you're too old"

I retract my booing and tomato throwing at the Kanas song after hearing the Malmsteen verision wich I hope they go with or somewhere in between at least.

It's not that it's too loud... I'd just love to play my 3 Doors Down, Staind, Green Day, and Switchfoot stuff sometime. Even a country genre wouldn't hurt my dad's chances of getting into this game (he enjoys the concept, but hates the music). The only song he really ever liked hearing was Ziggy Stardust... until he read the lyrics to the song.

I'm incredibly not surprised that Freebird is the "final boss" song. Yeeargh!!!
