I got GOW yesterday and I have been doing the single player campaign where I just finished the first act. I just loaded the game up again to play and went to continue the campaign but after I select eh difficulty it goes to the screen like it's loading for a few seconds and then goes back to the select difficulty screen. I have tried turnign it off and restating but same thing everytime.

Has anyone had this happen and have any suggestions? It just won't load.

I had the same problem until I unplugged my Xbox live. I believe there's a problem with live.

Something was wrong with Live earlier, I had to disconnect from that to play GOW earlier. Great game so far.

Some buddies and I got together earlier this evening to play some Halo 2 LAN. We discovered that we all got GOW over the Christmas break and so we put it in. No one even mentioned Halo after we started playing gears 4 on 4. Great game in both single and multiplayer.

Same thing happened to me. I tried other games and they would lock up when I tried to go online with them too. I called Xbox and they said that there is an issue with the Auto Update that was sent out the other day. I had to delete all of the updates and start it back up. They said that GOW was the only game that they knew of that had problems offline as well as online. They recommended not downloading the Auto Update for a day or so until the bugs get worked out.

Just got GOW for Christmas and all I have to say is WOW! Awesome game. I started with the single campaign and was blown away with how real the game feels. Can't wait to get off work and play again!!

Yea I had a blast with the Hardcore Difficulty player mode, and I'm having a good time on the Live Multiplayer too.

New content for Gears of War coming this week

It doesn't say, if they are new MP maps or new campaign missions. The descriptions make it sound like new missions, but we should no more soon.

The patch is coming before the new content.

This is legit. The Gears update will go out over Xbox Live before the downloadable content is available. We'll post some more information about this in the morning.

"The first new map is called Raven Down and takes place near a King Raven crash site in the middle of a city with cars, debris, and building matter strewn all over the place. Think Gridlock with lots of broken stuff and a King Raven in the middle. The second map is called Old Bones and is pretty much an abandoned human museum all decked out with arches and columns. It's very fancy indeed."

Patch details

A Gears of War update should start pushing through the system at some point tomorrow, Tuesday January 9, 2007 prior to the two new multiplayer maps being available on Xbox Live Marketplace on Wednesday January 10, 2007. The maps, plus an introductory video featuring Gears designer Cliff Bleszinski, are free thanks to the kind sponsorship by the Discovery Channel's Future Weapons series which launches next Monday January 15th, 2007. Be sure to check out the show to see some really cool firepower. I expect game designers all across the country will be watching that series very carefully looking for ideas for their future games

Here is a list of what was addressed in this update:

• Fixed aspect ratio distortion when using VGA cable with 4:3 displays at resolutions higher than 640x480
• Fixed voice issue with new players joining Player Match games in progress
• Players can now get the Achievement for "Dish Best Served Cold" when using Troika turret to kill RAAM
• Fixed rare situation where host could loop countdown and never start match
• Fixed rare situation where players could get stuck after chainsawing in multiplayer
• Reduced Grenade Tag melee distance
• Enabled “Strict” NAT check on host to prevent possible connection issues
• Optimized server browser queries to return results more quickly and prevent scroll bars from hiding quality of service icons
• Reduced number of possible revives in Execution to match Warzone
• Removed host name from Ranked match server browser
• Disabled security cameras in Ranked matches
• Ranked matches now require balanced teams (3v3 or 4v4)
• Increased penalty for quitting a Ranked match to -50 points
• Added additional cheat detection code
• Additional housekeeping updates

Epic Games' flagship 360 shooter Gears of War has sold over three million copies worldwide in just ten weeks, putting it well on course to smash the sales figure set by legendary Xbox shooter Halo, which has sold five million copies since its release in 2001.

The news of Gears' latest milestone comes from Microsoft's own Larry Hryb, who reveals that the Epic shooter has helped the Xbox 360 muscle 51% market share in the United States for December 2006, and expand the population of Xbox Live users to over five million, with a collosal three billion game hours logged to date.

Of course, it's not the first trumping Gears of War has given the Bungie shooter franchise in the last 12 months. The 360 opus has already overtaken the mighty Halo 2 as the most popular game on Xbox Live.

It's a remarkable achievement for a debut franchise and sales are showing no sign of slowing - but Gears still has a way to go before it's crowned as the best selling Xbox game of all time. For that, it would have to beat the record set by the second Halo game, which has thus far managed to flog over eight million copies worldwide.

I finally beat RAAM on insane last night. I've got to say he was one of the hardest bosses I've ever played against and was crazy tough on insane.

I had a tough time with him on hardcore. Can't imagine fighting him on insane.
