I had a tough time with him on hardcore. Can't imagine fighting him on insane.

It must have taken at least 30 times or so. After playing thru most of the first two levels on casual, I'm so glad I started on hardcore. It's just way too easy.

It took me at least a dozen tries on Casual to beat RAAM, I'm not really expecting to be able to beat him on Hardcore once I get there.

Yeah, hardcore is the way to go. It's a totally different game and makes you really use the cover system the way it is meant to be used.

I'm slowly working my way through again on insane and it's tough.

Holy smokes!

I just played GoW for the first time yesterday... this is arguably one of the best games I've ever played.

I now see why all this praise has been tossed towards this game.

its hard to play a shooter now without a cover system now after playing GOW and RB6.

i wonder if Halo 3 will have a cover system?

I'm loving this game so far. The cover system just adds so much to the game and, like many others have said, playing a shooter without a cover system just won't be the same.

Thing is, I consider myself to be pretty good in the solo campaign but online I just get destroyed. I've yet to top 200 points in a warzone match.

I'm loving this game so far. The cover system just adds so much to the game and, like many others have said, playing a shooter without a cover system just won't be the same.

Thing is, I consider myself to be pretty good in the solo campaign but online I just get destroyed. I've yet to top 200 points in a warzone match.

I'm still playing this game like Halo 2, essentially the only FPS I've played over the last two years. Hence, I'm getting owned

Great question. Playing without a cover system will kinda seem cheap now i reckon. After playing the hell out of GOW it's hard to really get into COD3 because of the lack of cover system. I wonder what the guys behind Halo 3 will come with....

I'm not sure if Halo's gameplay would be suited to the addition of a cover system.

I don't see why not- it's just as difficult to bring down a player in GoW as it is to take someone's shields all the way down in Halo 2. Throw in the popularity of Swat mode and I would think that Halo would really benefit from a cover system (and I think we're very likely to see one).

My biggest gripe with GoW is that the cover system isn't effective enough in multiplayer, as players are simply too able to do a quick roll and shotgun/chainsaw/stick a grenade on a player who is trying to employ cover.

Basically, the midrange game in GoW isn't all it could be.

If you're talking solely about online I completely agree. I blast people in the head with about 10 shots with the lancer but they continue running at me and chainsaw/sticky grenade me and I'm done. Perhaps they could release an update to improve the damage impact on head shots. 1 shot with the sniper rifle to the head and your done.

Maybe it's just me but that doesn't seem too balanced. I still love the hell out of this game but that's my major gripe about online play.

Great post Dales, i'm in 100% agreement.

I love this game like few others but MP does seem to be turning into either snipers or grenade stick/chainsaw affairs. It's like the nba ie the mid range game is slowly dying.

Agreed. There is no weapon like the battle rifle that will allow you to control your opponents at distance, or even to successfully cover your teammates as they move from spot to spot. My instinct would be to radically upgrade the damage that the Lancer does to the point where the other weapons on the board are nice but a bit extraneous. That would really force players to use cover, to use blind fire, and to use traditional fire and movement tactics. As it is, I find myself usually standing at distance and emptying into enemies as they chase after a teammate of mine with no discernible effect.
