I can see both sides of the argument.

You could say it is wrong for someone to seek a pre-order just for the fact to sell it. Some well off parents will pay anything to get the thing their kids want.

You could say it is wrong to disrupt something you disagree with even if you are not doing anything illegal.

To be honest, if you want to list on Ebay you have to take all the good with the bad. A much safer way, but probably a smaller profit margin would be to list in a few local papers. However, people always want the maximum return with the smallest effort.

I would love to see Ebay enforce some kind of payment here for the morons that bid on items without paying. This is exactly why I dislike Ebay because they have no problem collecting monthly payments or telling people when or what they can sell but when it comes down to cry babies bidding on everything they just get a negative. I know one thing if I ever sell something on Ebay and I get a bs bidder then I'll go through Ebay and the other people they've bought from to get the phone number and address so I can speak to their mommy or their McDonalds manager. Jealousy....

I hope that ebay enforces some kind of penalty to the people that are pulling this crap. Granted people are buying the PS3 to make money on ebay instead of playing the system, but what the "Snipers" are doing by going for the kill raising prices on peoples auctions intentionally is wrong.

Part of the main reason I didn't get a PS3 to sell. I still find something just wrong about it, but that being said, if I did have a PS3, it would be sold without a doubt.

This practice seems silly to me. If someone was able to acquire a PS3 early and intends to sell it, they should be able to do so without morons ruining it for them. That being said, eBay provides the means for people to screw up any auction, and that is shown here.

Personally, I'd rather make $600 and sell a launch PS3 than I would keep one just for the sake of being one of the first to own it. Especially considering launch systems are more likely to be faulty anyway.

Last time I checked we live in the US and people can do whatever the hell they want when they buy something. If they want to sell their PS3 on ebay, then so be it. Maybe those losers should have preordered their PS3's or stood out in the cold to get one.

it's the basic law of supply and demand. The people selling them are not dictating the prices. Its the buyers !

I think its really low of the bidders to do that... Hopefully ebay does something other than just give a strike to the fake bidders.

Classic stuff on the real. I wonder why the PS3 is getting this going and the XBOX 360 wasn't during its release. Funny cause this could go on without people being punished. Couldn't they just setup a new account for each new bid? People could do that stuff at a library or wherever if that site isn't blocked. Crazy stuff. I really have to say that I'm sorry for all those people who could taste the money and end up having this problem.

As much as this portrays the overall IQ level and maturity of the average ebayer, the seller is a moron for tossing a high priced item like that on the open market without restrictions. The seller can do things like demand immediate payment or keep anyone under a certain feedback level from bidding. You can make it so only serious bidders can email you, then they can bid.

While this is a shame to see, as it costs money to list items, the sellers shouldn't be so stupid.

there's an initial fee to list depending on the price you start it at that range from under a dollar to many dollars. Then you also have to pay ebay a percent or two of the final sell price. There's a fee table at ebay that explains it all.
