Is anyone having a hard time connecting to the servers? They must be down or something because I keep getting error messages.

This is a fun game. I'm not a platforming gamer and I picked this up for the wife who loves this type of stuff (Mario). My young son loves it too. I have played it a decent amount so far and it's fun. I don't find myself saying "I can't wait to play it!" but I enjoy the game every time I do.

            LBP wins GOTY from EDGE

If you’ve played LBP with a small child, you’ll know its ability to captivate both of you. You’re playing it with different interests in mind – perhaps the child is enjoying the movement, the slapstick and the tactility; perhaps you’re figuring out how the level was made, and challenging yourself with daring jumps and puzzle solving.

But you’re playing together, a generation apart, exactly the same content. LBP is aware of this, supporting playing alone, with friends in the room and with strangers online with equanimity – and that’s before you consider the other side of LBP, which covers many more motivations.

Designers can build A-to-B levels, mechanics can invent machines of rare complexity, directors can use it to stage machinima, fanboys can lovingly recreate the games they obsess over. It’s this multi-dimensional quality that has earned it game of the year status.
Also won, Best Innovation, Best Visual Design, and Best Developer.

              Introducing LittleBigPLanet Level Packs

Rather than just release an endless stream of sackboy costumes, Sony and Media Molecule are now introducing LittleBigPlanet Level Packs, combining several themed elements together at a relatively sensible price.

Take this week's release of the Festive Level Pack, available in the PlayStation Store this Thursday for $2.99. Sure, we're still getting a couple of cute little sackboy costumes, but we're also getting on new create material, two new objects, six new decorations, and a ton of new stickers, all in keeping with the pack's festive holiday theme. It's basically everything you need to create your own holiday-themed LBP level, from Christmas ornaments to your own Santa's sleigh.

The Festive Level Pack is just the first of many, though if you plan on getting this one you'd better act fast - after January 8th it's gone.

Media Molecule Says LittleBigPlanet Packs Will Be "Shocking"

At the Spike TV Video Game Awards last weekend, we caught up with Media Molecule's Alex Evans to chat about the awards and what's next for LittleBigPlanet. Alex had plenty to say about the upcoming LBP level packs, such as the Metal Gear Solid one that should hit soon.

"So what I said to the team is that each of these packs that we do over the next year or so has to be shocking. These aren't little add-ons or side tweaks. These are like serious, game changing, massive -- how can we really mess with peoples' heads and change what they think about LBP. The first example of that is the Metal Gear Solid pack, which we just finished. I don't think that people are expecting what it's going to be and I'm so excited by that. The surprise element is just a big part of it. And that's just the beginning. We did that really soon after the game came out. I really hope people are constantly surprised and excited by what we do with it."

I don't know how I feel about this game. It's a fun, inventive platformer, with the awesome online ability, online level creation, etc. At the same point I don't really find myself getting hooked on this game like Fallout 3 or other games do.

Maybe I just need more of a plot/story in my games, I don't know. It's fun, but I'm just more ambivalent than I should be with a fun game. I just played for 45 mins, and it was cool, I enjoyed it, but it's not that "damn, I want to play for hours" feeling.

I just don't see this game succeeding too much past the original. I mean, I bet they would make some serious bank on a sequel, but most people on OS would probably feel rather content with what they were given with the first one that perhaps a $60 purchase two years down the road just won't be worth it like a sequel to Uncharted.

You can play all of the story levels online by selecting "play online" when launching that level.

All of the user-created levels can be found under "Cool Levels" on the Pod Computer. You can just manually browse the planet, search by preset description or type in your own search terms.

The developers haven't released any new levels yet so there isn't anything to "download" other than just playing the user-created levels online.

I'm going to try to get creative over winter break and create some levels. Really looking forward to it, I've been amazed with what others have come up with so far.

Its a fun little platformer that wasn't marketed properly imo. They really should have gone after the kids with this one and personally they didn't.

I wouldn't say online is awesome as I have had issues with a few people trying to play this online. I think some of that is the darn P2P network setup.

Once I beat the game, I am not too sure if I will hold on to it or not.

                                • Additional information is now displayed on the "Good Grief" screen advising users on how the grief reporting functions, and warns against making spurious reports.
