I'm pretty sure everything autosaves, though you might want to enter and exit a level before quitting, just to make sure...

It saves everything, Pod included, when it does save.

Is the MGS DLC out yet? I thought I had heard Christmas day. Anyone try it?

It's out, I saw it available on the PSN Store the other day. I'll probably buy it and give it a whirl sometime tomorrow.

I have a question though, is there a way to search for levels by name or artist? I was looking for some of the levels suggested here and they are a pain to find, scrolling through planet after planet of user creations.

Thanks for the response, but I ended up hitting a secondary save issue last night...

My little sister's character didn't save. That means her collectibles and pictures as well. Sure as I'm born, I saw her save it. I can't remember when she last did it, but she definitely did it in the very beginning of the game, and even then the character was nowhere to be found. Do you know anything about that?

Also, for the items that we find, do both of us get them, or just the person that actually gets the item?

Can't help on the save issue (it'd be easier to figure out if I was playing, but my PS3 is incapacitated at the moment), but as for the other part....

Yes, the prize bubbles you collect will go into both characters' goodie bags. You'll find that it works the same way online as well - it's a great way to help new players into the game when you can collect prize bubbles for them, or use sticker switches (from later in the game) to get prizes they wouldn't otherwise be able to get!

So i'm thinking about picking this game up.

Is this game the type that i can play with my GF and she would enjoy it? She doesn't really like games... but does enjoy things like Mario Kart and Animal Crossing.

I wonder if anyone can answer this question, though... because my little sister, my older sister, and my mom have all asked me this, and it's kind of hard to answer:

My wife LOVES this game. She also isn't a big time gamer but always liked the Mario Kart games. The only other ones she really ever plays are the Zoo Tycoon games but I've had to fight her over the PS3 since buying this last month.

Why can't player two save anything?? All of the pics my girlfriend took and outfits she made disappear every time we restart the game... What's the deal?

Yah dude, it's annoying to my GF and I as well... we're playing this whole game through together and EVERY time we have to recreate her character... A tiny blemish on an otherwise incredible game... but an annoyance nontheless.
