In these games, I think covers are better. They make it seem as though you're on stage, right, or else an avatar that you are supposed to be controlling. You sit down and you start playing, I dunno, Godzilla on GH1. You are not making the sound if it's a master, you're just playing along to the track as it was made. If it's a cover, it makes it seem more like you're making the music, not just playing along as it goes.

I dunno, I guess I like thinking that the singer on screen and the musicians on screen are making the music, not just lip synching and playing like they're playing, but there's a CD playing the song behind them. That's the way I feel.

Man, "Ride the Lighting" is a son of a gun to conquer (drums)!! I'm lovin' every minute of it though.

I haven't played this game since NCAA came out, but I just had a blast for about 2 hours playing some of my favorites on this game. I've only beat about 25 songs on Hard, but I that's why I like it even more. It's such a challenge for me.

FYI - I pretty much only play the drums.

I always prefer masters. It makes playing them more enjoyable.

And they sometimes adjust the volume of the guitar or other instruments. An example go play live forever by oasis. They made the guitar louder at the beginning.

I see what you're saying, but frankly I'm paying quite a bit of money between the disc and DLC and I'm not wanting to buy a bunch of songs that weren't done by the original bands. I feel I'd be wasting my money.

I mean, look at "Stellar" by Incubus on the GH1 and that's reason enough to hate covers. It was brutally bad.

Quick question, when playing guitar and singing how do you tap the mic?

Only one more hour until SOAD and Sixx AM!

Even though I have to be at work in 7 hours, I'm staying up.

The mic taps aren't required, so you don't have to.

yea dude, get some sleep, I tried it first thing this morning and just failed miserably. After I played through the other 4 songs I played it again and passed when I was a bit more awake.

Such an epic song IMO, it was so much fun to play. I'm going to try the expert drums part of it when I get back home for lunch.

You don't have to tap the mic, you can just make any noise to trigger the tamborine sound. A simple "woo" is my method of choice.

4* - B.Y.O.B. Only hard part in the song is the bridge (I think that's what it's called). I'm actually pleasantly surprised that they didn't overchart this song. I was expecting them to.

5* - Toxicity. Fun song to play - that one repeating part during the chorus is tricky for me. It's because they can't chart open notes in this game, so I keep missing the green notes that would normally be an open string on the actual song.

I wish the game could find a way to chart an open string.
