    Re: Harmonix's Rock Band Discussion

Maybe my opinion is skewed because I'm a little better now than when I was on the last playlist, but those songs felt much easier than Foreplay/Long Time and the Blue Oyster Cult as well. In fact, I think Molly Hatchet is significantly easier than the Fall Out Boy song.

It could just be a personal capability thing. Synchopation and tricky beats don't trip me up at all, but a long stream of fast bass pedal hits is tiring and difficult.

Only had time to play one song, but I beat Constant Motion on Expert guitar. Nearly 4-starred, but thats only because of all the chords in it. It was not pretty. The solo is insane... but its short so I passed it with a full Overdrive. I think I only hit like 55% of it lol.

"Blackened" is unreal. I have beat it on Hard, but nowhere close on Expert. That song owns me.

Question, my girl bought Rock Band for her son for the Wii about 3 weeks ago. Today she calls me and tells me the microphone is not working. What should we do? She bought the extended warranty from Walmart. She we just take the whole set back there or contact EA or whoever for a replacement?

You can use your headset for now, or you can replace it with any USB microphone. Considering all of the parts to the game, you might not want to take the whole set back. Replacing the mic is the easiest of all the instruments, because the Rock Band mic isn't necessary. I'd definitely double check with the store to see if they show any mercy, but if not, EA will probably replace the mic without you having to exchange the whole package.

Dang... all these metal songs tire out my arm extremely fast. The only easy song I played was the Airbourne one which I 5-starred. Other than that, they're all tough.

^^^^The metal gods know only tough love, but their gifts are plentiful.

I'm trying to use my Rock Band Drum Kit in Garageband tonight. Hope this works!

EDIT: It works!!! Now I'm torn...I know the ion kit is boss, but with sensitivity and a double bass pedal, do I really need it if I can put the standard RB2 kit into Garageband?

                Decisions....

Downloaded that new Metal Pack thing. The Megadeth and Dreamtheater song are really fun on bass, but that's about it for me. On guitar they're just kind of annoying - they really could have picked a better Megadeth song. I've been waiting for some 'Deth on Rock Band and I was really disappointed when they listed that song.

But - those two songs listed are a hell of a lot of fun on bass. I'm ranked in the top 15 right now for the Megadeth one, and in the top 40 for the Dreamtheater one after two plays each.

Got an email from EA with a UPS tracking number, but no other information. Could it be they are sending me my replacement guitar already? I just sent it in last Thursday.

I got my replacement in within a week of sending in a busted one. This was in January though.

How has the replacement held up? I hope if my replacement conks out, it does so before they start enforcing the warranty period again.

well, honestly I never use it because I think the RB guitar sucks, I really hate the strummer (I'd sell it if it wouldn't be such a pain to find a box for it to ship it in). But I did use it some until Nyko came out with their Frontman guitar that supports RB and GH (I have the PS3 versions where RB and GH guitars aren't compatible). So for the 3 months that I did use the RB guitar it never had any issues, but I rarely played RB until I got the Nyko guitars. The problem I had with the first guitar was the downstrum broke within a week of having the game, the new replacement guitar seemed to fix the issue. I was impressed with the speed and ease of getting a replacement and the replacement seemed to be good quality.

I've already broken the replacement Bass pedal. Luckily I have 2...so I have a back-up, but I'm planning on sending in my broken one again.

I wonder if they'd realize that I'm sending in all of my instruments once before the warranty is up?

I hate using the headset. I've heard that using a normal USB mic will work just fine though. There is too much lag with the headset IMO.

                                Killswitch was pretty easy
                                Devildriver was pretty easy
Machine Head was fast, but easy
                                Airbourne was extremely easy
Dream Theater is not playing around
Megadeth is fun with a reasonable solo

I four or five starred everything I'm calling easy, and I'm rusty because I've been playing drums, so I know people who are playing guitar on a regular basis shouldn't have any trouble.
