Channel 9 actually had a few split seconds of game play...at the site linked above. Other than that, looked to be mostly comedy/backstory stuff.

Lol, try channel 3. Wait for the end, then try vats.

Fallout 3: Six Hours of Exploring

If you've been following the Fallout 3 week here at IGN, you've read about the weapons, you've learned about the skills and perks, and you've seen just how good and bad IGN can be. Today we go farther into the game than anybody outside of Bethesda has to date. With more time I was able to go beyond Megaton and its surroundings, explore the depths of the dilapidated subway tunnels, and make it all of the way to the heart of Washington DC and travel to Rivet City, a massive aircraft carrier run aground and turned into a safe haven for a small band of humans eking out an existence.

I'm honestly thinking of pulling a Cartman and freezing myself until this game is out. Oblivion is right behind Mass Effect as my favorite next gen game, and given the post apocalyptic/western setting in FO3, I can say without doubt that no other game is remotely close to this on my hype meter.

There are too many good games comin out this fall, But Fallout 3 is by far the game i am anticipating more. I am kind of curious how the VATS System will work, I wonder if it gets recharged or is always available.I hope they can strike a good balance but i doubt i should even worry about it.

You have to use action points to use VATS, and it eventually runs out. You earn more action points, althought i'm not sure how. Also, depending on your skill with certain weapon types, you may not hit the enemy on the first shot, and it will take more than one, using up both extra ammo and action points. It's got a great balance IMO, and looks to be a blast to use.

Little Big Planet and Fallout 3 are tied for most anticipated for me. By the time they come out I will be about halfway through my busy time of year...

I'm not really excited about this game... but I wasn't excited about BioShock and Mass Effect either and I loved those two games.

I pre-ordered at gamestop and got the 'soundtrack' cd and it only pumped me up more. 3 'real' songs and 2 game songs. I hope they have at least 30 songs for the in game radio stations like the 3 they put on this cd (I don't want to set the world on fire-ink spots, way back home - bob crosby, and butcher pete - roy brown). The 2 game songs are ok, the megaton one has an old west feel to it.

If Butcher Pete doesn't get you pumped up for roaming around post doomsday D.C., nothing will.

This game is a must buy IMO.

Oblivion was lights out and I expect even better things from fallout 3.

Gonna be a nice winter for us gamers

                            GiantBomb: Hands-On

Fallout shares a load of similarities with Oblivion, and Megaton is where you start to see them. But you also see where Bethesda has improved on some of the previous game's rough spots. Character interactions are the same: the camera zooms in on a person's face, and you navigate dialogue trees to get information, items, and quests out of them. Unlike in Oblivion--where characters felt like they'd popped out of only about six different molds--every NPC I saw in the four hours with Fallout had a unique character model and voice.
Remember how Oblivion featured dozens and dozens of...two different locations? There were Elven ruins, and there were caves. Ad nauseam. From what I saw so far, Fallout 3 seems to offer a whole lot more diversity in the interior areas you'll encounter. There was a bombed out old drive-in movie theater, a subterrannean industrial complex being used as a hideout by some raiders, an abandoned transit station with a boobytrapped subway tunnel, an old supermarket... Just like the wide range of NPCs, it seemed like every place I found on the map had a different appearance and character to it. (Also, just like in Oblivion, you can fast-travel to any place you've been before just by selecting it on the map.)
The game is generous with low-level loot like Oblivion was. I picked up an assault rifle, several melee weapons, and a variety of armor just by fighting the early raiders that were roaming the wastes. It seems like the best and most unique equipment you'll have to make yourself, though. I gained my first schematic right at the end of the demo, for an item called the shishkebab. That required me to find a motorcycle gas tank, a pilot light, a lawnmower blade, and a motorcycle hand brake. The schematic said the resulting item would both "slash" and "burn," which sounds like everything I'm looking for in a good melee weapon. You'll need the schematic, the right parts, and a high enough repair skill to actually assemble this kind of crazy makeshift weaponry.

                            IGN: Hands-On

Though there are plenty of statistics to bump up in the game as you level, it seems some of the most important are lockpick and repair. During my travels I ran into quite a few areas completely inaccessible without a high enough lockpick skill. Considering some doors lay buried within mysterious laboratories and blocked the entrances to curious spires topped with satellite dishes, I think it's pretty safe to assume that had I been able to get them open I would have been given some interesting rewards. Repair is another skill needed regularly, as it helps maintain weapon stability while in the field. By picking up versions of the same armor or gun type, you use your repair skill to consume one and improve the durability condition of the other. If you ignore these repairs, weapons will deteriorate to the point where they'll break, and then you'll be staring at a radscorpion with nothing but your bare hands for defense and only yourself to blame.

Depending on how high your repair skill is, you can continue to combine like-type weapons and armor to higher and higher durability ratings. This, in addition to keeping the weapon in a functioning state, also helps manage your inventory weight limit, since if you pick up too much and your character will be slowed down. By combining items with the repair skill, you can very easily lighten the load without the hassle of trying to find a vendor to sell off items or simply toss them aside. It seemed that after nearly every fight with humanoids it was a good idea to stop to combine weapons and armor to ensure you were in the best condition for moving forward. And of course stim-packs that regenerate health are also a big help, as you'll need to use them to inject yourself to replenish your general health or stick them into individual body parts to repair damage there. If you ignore individual body parts, they'll become crippled.
The gun schematic was only one of several random discoveries I managed to make while roaming. At one point I approached a fenced-in radio tower surrounded by a chain link gate. After fiddling with the lockpick minigame where you manipulate bobby pins before turning the lock cylinder, I managed to get into the area and flip a switch at the base of the tower. I then took a look at my Pip-Boy, a wrist-mounted readout that keeps track of just about everything that goes on in the game, and discovered the tower was broadcasting a new radio station. So I tuned in, hearing only static fuzz for a while but I figured I might be able to get a quest out of it. Unfortunately it was just at that moment when a giant radscorpion came crawling over a nearby ride and stabbed me in the face, and so I loaded up a past save and moved on.

At another point I came down off a mountainous ridge and in a clearing found a curious humanoid perched on what looked to be a chair or some kind. I approached and before long he (or she, it was hard to tell) started screaming and sent a pack of giant cockroaches my way. This person was, apparently, some sort of roach king, and happened to have a mini-gun and lots of ammunition, which made dealing with the roaches all the more intense with the sideways rain of bullets. I managed to take out the roaches with a sledgehammer then equip my sniper rifle which, after successfully landing a few headshots, brought my attacker down pretty quickly and gave me access to the minigun.

I reccomend playing some games you wanted to but never got the chance too. I just recently played and Beat Bioshock. I also reccomend giving Brothers in Arms a shot. Give PURE a shot, its alot of fun. And next week Fable2 comes out and Frycry.
