    Re: Fallout 3

I like it better than both Bioshock and Mass Effect. I had a blast with Mass Effect, but it wasn't as open as Fallout is.

      Juice...
I know it seems like I'm harping on your comments. I'm not and I'm sorry you didn't enjoy the game.....but!.....
Bethesda had made it known and quite clear that the game does end and you can't continue on. I even think it was made mention of it somewhere in this thread with the quote from the Bethesda guy . I actually agree with you and wish they would have just let you roam around and continue to explore.
I don't like to hear that the ending sucks though. Companies should spend a little more time on the "payoff" if people invest time in the game.
Ehh...I'll just be happy with the gameplay.

Had a great little sequence yesterday in Dupont Station.
There were three Super Mutants around a corner in the tunnel.
I am super low on ammo(gotta find an armory that's open!)....and they had their backs to me.
I laid down three frag mines in a row right at the turn of the corner....threw one regular frag grenade and took one shot at them to get their attention and simply slid down the corner of the tunnel. Those big stupid lugs followed me and BAM!.....clear sailing....or so I thought. It seems that two of the lugs hit the landmine and the third backed off when he saw that....so he laid low.
I was still getting the "danger" signal....and saw his marker....I was able to finish him off...but that was a good little fight there.

Doing the sidequests and just exploring have been just as fun as doing the main quest for me.
I don't see how people are beating the game so quick. I have put in close to 20 hours so far and I have not seen a Deathclaw, have not fired half the weapons, and I just got to the independance andriod mission. I under take all side quests and I spend tons of time just exploring the subways and such.

It has been a AMAZING experience so far and I have just barly touched the main quest.

One of the coolest things happened to me last night. I came up on 3 Super mutants. One with a Minigun, and Two with hunting rifles. The mini gun opened up so I hide behind a exloded car ruins, I ready my hunting rifle. The two other super mutants are firing with there hunting rifles keeping me pinned as the mini gun mutant just walks towards me raining bullets on me. I pop up hit vats, I target one of the long range mutants, A left arm critical shot drops his weapon out of his hand. I then hide again, pull out my frag nade stand up hit vats and target the now closing minigun mutant. BOOOOM sending him to a SLLLOOWWW limp towards me, buying more time for me to try and take out another hunting rifle. A head shot from far sends his head rolling down in a trench. I crouch behind cover and turn around to locate the minigun mutant, BUT as I turn around the hunting rifle mutant grabs a super sledge and rushed me while I was not paying attention. As I turn around he is raising it above his head. VATS quickly, I target his head with the hunting rifle. The camera pans to the side as I am crouched, him coming down with the sledge, my rifle a foot from his skull, BOOOM blood and skull matter goes spraying all over the mini gun mutant just behind him. AHHHHH out of ammo, I rush the minigun mutant with just my fist. Vats in close I hit him with a hard right hook sending him crashing to the ground. IT WAS F-ING EPIC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So many moments like that in this game

          IMO yes.
Both Bioshock and ME are very good games but Fallout delivers on so many levels.

What is the big deal about the game ending? Just load up a previous save and play on.

                Good point...
You would know how to end the game...so just don't do it.
I'm a level 5 player right now....and when a group of raiders comes after me, I'm in trouble still.
I can beat them.....but I have to be extremely careful....plan my attack carefully(as Phobia so very well expressed it ).....and when I'm done, I'm limping.....radiated....and very low on ammo. I "FEEL" like I just got into a firefight and I'm glad to be out of there. After that...just seeing a feral ghoul makes me cringe.
I don't feel like you can just romp through this game unless you are willing to do a lot of reloading(and I just wouldn't enjoy that)

I lost Dogmeat to a sniper at one point. Is there any value into keeping dogmeat and going to reload the game from when he was alive?

So what did people use for their starting SPECIAL stats?

I just restarted to test something out - and I went 1 PER and CHA, and lowered END and STR to 4, and I put AGI, LUCK, and INT all at 10. Went to the school near the vault and was pretty much two shotting everything, and getting tons of crits.

It is dude but you have to put into it what you want out of it. Rush through and try to beat the game in record time and you'll miss sooo much fun and excitement. Just take your time and soak in the terrain and people and you'll be in for a great experience. Also don't judge the game by the 1st hour of play. This game so far has gotten better and better the more I play.
