Don't pick the lock....the robot deputy is waiting inside and the whole town comes after you. No way to escape.....you're dead.

I'm wondering the same thing....and where do you find Dogmeat?
I'm not going any further until I find her!

Dogmeat is in a scrapyard south of Minefield. The scrapyard is a location that will show up on your map when you find it. Dogmeat is over in a corner of the scrapyard fighting off raiders.

Can someone tell me the name of the final quest in the main storyline? Just so I know when I'm almost done and can not do it until I want too, since the game ends and you can't explore afterwards.

Awesome game, and I've only played a bit. Explored a school killing some guys, then left and was scared by being shot at in the dark and ran like a little girl. I need to keep playing the story more, until I can get more side stuff too, but this is just cool. It's like Oblivion but in a modernish setting (simplifying I know, but you know what I mean).

5 hours 21 minutes in and I am 3 quest in. This game get's better as it goes deeper into the story as others have said. I am doing nothing but quest and have only talked to the one guy about my father. Gonna take my sweet time and do as much as I can. Love this game. Peace!!!!

One final complaint I forgot to mention. The no sleeping in owned beds thing. First thing is I think if you're helping them and they have an extra they should let you use it. The real big problem I have is that I still wasn't able to use it even after killing them. When their corpses are still sitting in the chair in the other room with their head,1 arm and both legs cut off I don't think they'll really say anything about me using their bed. Chopped one dude to bits while he was still in bed so not sleeping in that one I can understand but if they were killed elsewhere it should be usable.

But yea bro I hear you. I spent sooooo much the past few months and it has no end in sights. Cod world at war, Left 4 Dead, Resistance 2, Little big planet, Mirrors edge, agggggggggggggggggggggggg

Hahaha! If I still had my 360 Left 4 Dead was near the top of the list. At least I can chop one off.

I am about 19 hours in to the game and getting close to the end of the main quest.... I'm going to do all the side quests and explore before I continue on. I think someone mentioned it earlier, but I also wish the main story had more drama to it. I think one thing missing is cutscenes in the main story. Someone mentioned the sidekicks you can get. Make sure you don't go evil if you want to get sidekicks...... Everyone I try to get says I'm too evil!!!

For Jericho to go with you you have to have negative Karma. I asked him if he wanted to go out into the Wastelands again and he said "I don't think we would clash"..."I heard of you, you're the goodie two shoes from the vault" and the corner of the screen said I had too much good Karma.

So try him...

Is that tower you see in the distance from there Tenpenny?
Also.....south of there you hit that grocery with the bear traps....is the minefield and scrapyard around there anywhere?

I still haven't found Dogmeat...

Scrapyard is just south of Minefield. Maoira at Craterside Supply will give you the map marker for Minefield as one of her Wasteland Survival Guide missions.

Dumb question, but I can just run around, find different cities, people, quests, etc without following the quests for my father? Similar to Oblivion, I guess?
