    Re: Fallout 3

I rented it and didn't really like it. I loved Oblivion so I think it's just the setting more than the engine. This isn't a very good looking game and I got tired of wandering around from one ruin to the next.

Same here, I've now registered 40 hours as of today, I've explored 3 zones that have nothing to do with any of the quests completely, finding each landmark for items and visiting every building. Haven't even really touched the main quest yet, still on my way to finding "Three Dog", and still have a couple more zones to explore without going onto side quests and eventually the main quest. I've come across a couple really whacked out experiences, one with the woman hunter that roams about which was pretty cool just watching her hunt down a couple wastelanders. Finding the good "Super Mutant" was pretty interesting and I also ran into one of those "Deathclaws", whoa!!! With 21 zones to explore and never fast traveling, the time racks up pretty quickly. I have enough caps now to buy 3 of the themes for my house.

I have the "Game of the Year" addition with all the extra stuff in it, to me, it's pretty much the same game.

one complaint with this game is that after you reach level 20, some of the fun is sucked out of it. I miss the cha-ching sound when I discover a new place or fight a baddie. It is like I loose a small bit of purpose. I did read that the DLC will lift the lvl 20 cap, so that is good. I also read that after the third DLC, you can continue the game after the main quest. I think I will wait for the new DLC before going through a second time.

I'm glad I didn't reach level 20 until about 60 hours in, because you're right, you don't really think about it while you're playing, but when you no longer get the XP sound and graphic it does suck a little of the joy out of the game.
