I was wondering if i can get in the beta with a rental copy of Crackdown from Blockbuster. So i went down there today and rented it and put the game in and went to downloads and the button for Halo 3 Beta is there but of course we cant click it yet. So i guess it'll work?

Wow. I pulled out my crackdown, only to find that my daughter has sprayed something on it that has penetrated the surface. I've scrubbed, boiled and prayed with no luck.

It should work. There was no code or anything that came in the game box, so I think as long as you have the disk you can play the demo.

I am looking forward to seeing how much different this feels than Halo 2. IGN is saying it's kind of the same, but a small next step. They also said the visuals weren't that impressive like a GOW.

It sounds like there are some cool new weapons/gadgets. The 'shield' grenade is interesting. Will be fun to test this puppy out and see if it's gonna be worth it in November.

Halo 2 was an amazing game, why **** with near perfection?

I'm glad they sacrificed stunning graphics for smooth gameplay and 16 possible people.

What I hate about Gears is that it is so small. You only get to kill 4 people in a match tops (Annex excluded).

It's small number of players sucked because OS or my friends list usually had more than the 8 on at that one time.

See I never understand posts like this. It's like I'm reading the NCAA Football or Madden forums. Isn't this next-gen? Can't we have both? Isn't Halo the flagship franchise of the Xbox? This being the supposed final game of the series you'd think they'd strive for that. Why is it that something must always be "sacrificed" for something else to be good?

Of course the graphics aren't as good as GOW....

It's the BETA. These are probably the most polished maps that they have currently, but I guarantee they will look better by September.

The Halo franchise has never been about graphics anyway. They have a story based single player game and a fast paced, addicting multiplayer game.

halo has never been about the graphics. They had horrible popup in halo 2's cutscenes. There was always better looking games out on the xbox, as there will be for the 360.

The vast majority of people that get this game enjoy it for the online/multiplayer part.

well first of all, the Single Player game will look different (more of the effects you see in other single player graphical powerhouses)... nobody has seen SP yet.

second, Multiplayer Halo is a sport and as such requires the right amount of speed, physics, art, map design, weapon balancing and netcode to play at its best meaning that graphics fill a role but not as big as the others. for example, Frankie (Bungie) has already stated how the HDR lighting is toned down so as not to blind players in MP matches (it's a sport and needs to have a level playing field)

third it's a BETA build so there will be improvements.

four... by all accounts of people actually playing it on HDTVs, the lighting, textures, explosions, physics, rag doll and particle effects all combine to present a great visual feast.

Gorgeous with an outstanding level of detail. You're looking at the future of videogames....Halo is the perfect example of what next-generation is about, in all forms, and why the Xbox isn't just going to make it, it's going to amaze you.

....from IGN's review of the first Halo. To say that they graphics weren't a big part of Halo's success is crazy. Halo was the ONLY real reason to get an Xbox when it came out. It had to be perfect, and it nearly was in every way.

Now I'm not saying that Graphics are the ONLY thing, but to dismiss them as not being important, is just being a fanboy. Again, we could cut and paste these posts and put them in the Ncaa/Madden forum.
People saying graphics aren't important, or this is a preview/beta etc. This is the same exact debate going on right now just a few forums up.

Like I said I'm not judging anything until I play it myself.
