        Now this has me excited.

Frankie on another forum posted, "EGM has a big ticket item reveal bigger than what we showed behind closed doors at E3. You will say WOW."

This big ticket item seems to be Forge.

"We caught a brief glimpse of a menu option called "Forge," but Bungie wouldn't comment on what that is. But keep an eye out for EGM's September issue (on sale August 7th), where they reveal this feature -- plus a whole lot more exclusive details on single-player, multiplayer, and co-op."

For those not familar with the Marathon series from Bungie, Forge was the name of the map editor tool.

"Forge is the name of the Bungie map editor used to create the levels of Marathon Infinity, and was released alongside this final chapter of the trilogy."

Forgot about DLC, Microsoft will be making a lot money off that from Halo 3, so that makes me think it's not a map editor. Forge does imply the act of creation though, so it's going to be interesting to see what it is.

Would be cool if it is single player editor...lol. Has any info been released about bots? I think it could be Multiplayer editor since it is the last Halo in the series. But I have learned not to get to excited over stuff like this until I see what it is with my own two eyes.

                Re: Halo 3 Discussion

This is the biggest hint at what Forge is. From E3: Eurogamer's Halo 3 single-player impressions.

And to finish the preview, anyone know what a "Forge" button in the Saved Film lobby might refer to?
The fact this is in the Saved Film lobby says, Forge is probably going to be a Saved Film Editor, allowing us to take the films we saved and likely certain parts of them, and forge them together to create are own montages.

ha I'm the exact same way... I own both Halo 1 and 2, but I've never been in love with the game as many others have... it's a fun game, but it's not the end all be all for me.

Yea, I'd have to agree with you superstar. Halo is a good game but the fact that it's blown up so much amazes me. Theirs plenty of FPS that I've enjoyed more then Halo over the years. Halo is a pretty basic FPS if you ask me...

As somebody who spent the better part of high school playing Counterstrike like a fiend (and before that TFC and Quake) online, I actually enjoyed Halo multiplayer more. I was a CS nut back in the day and, while I still prefer PC shooters generally, Halo is my favorite shooter ever made.

                          New info from EGM.

                          Forge:
                          • Map editor, but not in the traditional sense. Does not support geometry creation or texture modification.
                          • Allows you to remove and place any items, vehicles, spawn points, objectives, etc... anywhere on the existing maps.
                          • For things like weapons, you can tweak their re-spawn timer, ammo count and other stuff.
                          • You can have multiple people work in the Forge editor over Xbox Live.
                          • You can also dynamically switch from creation mode to playing mode.

                          Elephant:
                          • Only is allowed on the map Sandtrap right now.
                          • Essentially a big mobile base.
                          • The Elephant is drivable by players making for moving base games.

                          New vehicles:
                          • Hornet
                            - UNSC flying vehicle
                            - Only seen in Campaign so far, but may be in multiplayer as well.
                            - Can carry two people and the pilot.
                            - Can combat Banshees, but weapons specifics are not known right now.
                          • Prowler
                            - Brute version of Warthog
                            - Turret gun
                            - Passengers on side
                            - 4 players on it total
                          • Troop Transport Warthog - Carries more Marines, instead of a turret.

                          New Equipment:
                          • Regenerator - Brings shield back
                          • Flare - Basically the equivalent of a flash bang
                          • Invincibility
                            - Makes you temporarily invincible
                            - Brutes use it in single-player
                            - Will be in multiplayer, but will be rare
                          • Personal Shield - Unlike the Bubble Shield, this is a stationary version of the Jackal's handheld deflector and it only protects against attacks from one direction. Stand behind the shield and fire through to hit opponents on the other side.

                          New Weapons:
                          • Gravity Hammer
                            - Has a short lunge like the Plasma Sword, but mostly you use it to do area-effect damage.
                            - Can send vehicles and grenades flying back.
                          • Gametype that involves this weapon - Hammer Time: King of the Hill, 75% gravity, players invulnerable when inside the designated scoring area. Knock players out of the hill with the Gravity Hammer to keep them from racking up points.

                          • Mauler
                            - Brute shotgun
                            - Dual-wieldable
                            - Not as powerful as Human shotgun

                          New Map:
                          • Guardian - Spiritual successor to Lockout.
                          • Bungie says the number of maps the game will ship with will be on par with the previous games (EGM estimates 10 or 11).

Zombies vs Humans and Elites (including the Arbiter) confirmed for multiplayer. There are no disadvantages to using an Elite model this time.

                          Single-player:
                          • Co-op
                            - 2 player, one player is Master Chief and the other is the Arbiter.
                            - System Link supported.
                            - At the time of the story, online co-op isn't confirmed. Bungie is currently trying to overcome some big hurdles to get this to work properly. If they can't get it to work properly, then there will be no online co-op. Also, they don't rule out a post release patch for it.

                          • You play as Master Chief the entire game. You will only play as the Arbiter if you are playing co-op.
                          • The Meta-game is essentially campaign mode with a scoring system. More points for stylish kills. Headshots, grenade stickies, etc. Point deduction for friendly fire kills.

More to revealed in the near future.

If they can't do online coop and

                              Gears can do it
                              Crackdown can do it
                              Rainbow Six/GRAW can do it

then Bungie needs to be taken out back flogged by Bill Gates. There's absolutely no reason that even two player online co-op can't work. Several 360 games have made it work so far. It's ridiculous that it's "NEXT GEN" and we can't have online co-op for the 360 for Halo 3.

I'm getting off the soapbox now.
