This game is solely about multiplayer (again...played 'Halo 2' ever so briefly after getting online with the 360). I'll beat the single player, but do I care if Cortana is eaten by that giant 'Little Shop of Horrors' plant? Or if the random Covenant good guy is martyred?

Avoid the internet and avoid threads that mention what you don't want to know (aka ANY "Halo" thread). I on the other hand have no idea what the plot of the first two games was (other than some green dude being an alien killing bad***) and don't have the desire to replay both single player campaigns or read the Wikipedia articles.

well, I'm sure the case will be different with Halo 3, but I remember Halo 2 came out my senior year of college and a friend of mine had somehow downloaded a French copy of it and put it on a disc that we could play on any regular xbox (meaning it didn't have to be modded to play it, I still don't know how he did it). He had that 3 weeks before it was released in the U.S. Nonetheless, senoritis took on a whole new meaning when we got that.Lux y VeritasComment

Need more gametypes? Take a look at "Bungie Recommends."
With the advent of Forge, Halo 3's map editor, the breadth of the game's customization has expanded exponentially; Bungie Recommends is the developer's way of regularly "bubbling up" the best and most interesting/ridiculous/fun user-created gametypes, map variants, screenshots and Saved Films that are floating around the Halo-verse, as well as those that Bungie creates itself. Accessible from within Halo 3's online menus, the feature is essentially a file list split into categories that you can browse and download from. If you haven't been keeping up with how these things work, Saved Films are simply small files of game data and not actual video, so they can be accessed as instantly as everything else. Considering how many routes there are to draw attention to your content -- friends, Bungie.net, YouTube, other sites or simply word-of-mouth within Halo 3 -- there will likely never be a shortage of new content to choose from.In Halo 2, made-up gametypes like "Zombie" (where players would switch teams as they were killed, growing the Zombie team) became popular within the community, requiring participants in custom games to abide by unofficial rules to enjoy it. It has since become an official gametype in Halo 3, but it won't take another sequel for variants like these to get noticed this time around. They can be created easily with Halo 3's much-expanded customization options, and then popped onto Bungie Recommends for everyone to enjoy, without having to add to the official playlist rotation. It should do a lot to further the cohesiveness of the online community and the way people play the game, and is simply another tasty layer on a massive cake we don't expect to stop eating for years.

Xbox.com: We've seen a lot of additional detail in the single-player levels, such as foliage and dramatic lighting effects, that wasn't there for the Multiplayer Beta. Can you talk about the additional effects and details that gamers will encounter in the single-player game?
O'Connor: Well Campaign, by its very nature, is always going to be the visually more dense experience. Some of the levels feature stuff we haven't shown yet, in terms of effects, atmospherics and design, but the main thing to expect from Campaign mode is scale. There will be large battles, huge vistas and more importantly, some enormous places for the player to explore, alone, on foot, in vehicles or with company. We want the Campaign mode to be challenging, but we also wanted to build some very cool spaces and environments for people to explore.Xbox.com: If someone hasn't played the first two games in the series, how can they best prepare for Halo 3?
O'Connor: Halo 3 is designed so that anyone can pick it up during this chapter. It would be horribly egotistical to assume everyone has already played, or "gets" Halo, so as ever, we've made it approachable from a gameplay perspective, with settings to suit any player, of any skill level. We've also tried to ensure that the new players don't need to read up on Halo lore to get the fiction. This is the final chapter in the trilogy, yes, but as such, it's a big picture painted with broad strokes. A hero trying to save an imperiled galaxy. Yahoo! Games to premiere Halo 3 videos
Yahoo! Games will exclusively unveil two new Halo 3 videos this week.
The first, entitled "Museum," depicts a former UNSC Marine reminiscing about a great battle he fought alongside Master Chief -- a battle players will get to experience first-hand in the upcoming action shooter.
The second video, entitled "Believe," will be the full-length version of an upcoming TV commercial that's part of the game's launch campaign. The additional footage will only be available to view on Yahoo! Games.
