For those who don't want the story spoiled, are you going to beat the game first before you go online?

I remember for Halo 2 I didn't play online until I beat the game (only took me 2 days) because I didn't want some dumb kid online to tell me how the game ended.

Same here. Playing online runs the risk of spoilers too. My problem is I'm finally starting Bioshock and I doubt Halo's campaign is going to come close to this level of storytelling.

That's a good point. It seems to be getting very trendy to play the role of the spoiler (more specifically, younger crowds). Going online in some random match will only secure you a spot in having the story of this game spoiled.

what happens if you snag a retail copy of the game & sign into xbox live to play the single player campaign? do you also get banned from the high heavens until the end of time?

I just wouldn't sign into xbox live just to be safe.

Well, if I were to get my hands on a copy early, I'd definitely play it, but unplug myself from xbox live while doing so.

It would be very doubtful they would ban you because you are playing the actual retail copy of the game. The guys who were banned had the Epsilon build which is why they were banned.

I know I will be up at the midnight release and goin to stay up 2 days straight playin this, before my 7 day stretch of 12 hour shifts. If any want to play the night of release let me no. And yes if it is ok with everybody in here I am goin to create a spoilers thread to halo 3. I dont want some person comming in here sayin sarge chokes on his cigar or sumthin like that to spoil it for me.

if you don't want to read spoilers, then avoid any halo 3 threads. It shouldn't be too difficult.

I was in the minority that liked halo 2 and its story. It was perhaps not as epic as the original and maybe a little confusing at first when you have to play as the arbiter, but I think they purposely did it to set us up for halo 3.

Famitsu gave sick review scores for Halo 3. If it's scoring like that in Japan, I wouldn't be shocked to see Bioshock-like scores for this game... maybe even better.

I don't play single player (I have put a total of probably 1 hour in both Halo and Halo 2 single plater) for me this is a MP purchase and that's it. I am looking forward to it. Doubt I will do the midnight release though.

I've never been into SP for any game. If I try SP for this game, is there something I need to know before I get started? Or can I just play through it having not played the first 2 SP.

I'm hoping to avoid spoilers as well. What I plan on doing is after I pick the game up at midnight, to go home and play some multiplayer. My girlfriend will be sleeping at that time so I won't be able to have the surround-sound cranked up (somethig I will need to do for the single-player). I have Tuesday off, so after a few hours of sleep I can enjoy the single-player game as loud as I want.
