    Re: Gamefly?

I haven't had the kind of problems some of you have been having with getting newer releases. I can, typically, receive a game within a week of release (as long as it's the only thing on my list that could be sent to me). I used to keep a large queue but found that I was often getting games that I really didn't want sent to me over higher priority games, so I started limiting my queue. The "Low" and "Very Low" availability does come up with most new releases, but you still have a chance of being sent the game (sometimes from another shipping center). I have absolutely no complaints with Gamefly, as of the last couple of years (especially with the shipping center in Pittsburgh).

      Re: Gamefly?

Well I can't say the same.. Gamefly is not meeting my expectations. I am getting games that I really don't want and are the bottom of my list over the priortiy and when initially it seemed that the chances were pretty good. So when I send the 2 games back tomorrow.. I will chop down my queue today so I don't get the BS games over my I don't know.. my top 3 or 4 games.

I don't mind the BS games, because otherwise I wouldn't play them or buy them.. but I only want those after I played the games I really want to play first.

      My 2 cents

anyone do their trade in program yet?

I've been eligible, but never looked into it. I'm looking to get rid of some games so I gave it more attention recently just to see what it offered. It's apparently only towards gamefly fees. Sounds like a program geared to exploit 14 year olds who can't pay for their own games or membership by mowing lawns.

Why can't I add the balance to my gamefly dollar amount towards used games? It seems like an utterly limited program if it only goes towards paying your fees.

and I just found out that your earned gamefly dollars expire after a certain amount of time. What a great service.

            This company's shipping SUCKS!

I get my games out of Pittsburgh, which is a 2 hour drive from my house. Took me 4 days to get my games, I shipped them games on Saturday, it's now Thursday and they still haven't arrived.

Netflix would be 1 day, 2 days at the very most.

I'm canceling at the end of my free month.

Blame your local postal service. Once Gamefly ships the game, it's out of their hands.

                Re: Gamefly?

That isnt always the problem though. For starters they dont always ship from the closest shipping center to you, if a game is available at a different location they will ship it to you from that one, thus the shipping times are longer, which has nothing to do with the USPS in that situation. Gamefly needs more shipping centers really bad, their customer base grew much faster then their shipping centers did and now you have longer delays in turnaround time and more instances of games not being available, and it sucks.

That makes no sense though. How do bills, cards, Netflix, etc all move at a normal pace, yet Gamefly takes 5-7 days to travel back and forth?

If they make it back to the center today, it's one week. And the address was back to Pittsburgh.

I honestly have no answer. All I know is the longest I have ever waited for a game to be returned to them or sent to me was 5 days. This was during the holidays last year. Sometimes I just think the postal service processes things when they feel like it. I get time dated material all the time (magazines, ads, coupons, etc...), and half of it is after the dates it was supposed to be mailed. Don't be so quick to put all the blame on Gamefly.

They got my game back on Saturday, and shipped me out a new game same day, amazingly, every other game I want is out and still out. We'll see when I get the game from Saturday.

At the same time, Netflix received back 2 movies I sent back on Friday, on Saturday. They shipped me 2 new movies, which both arrived yesterday.

Yeap, the postal service timing tends to be erratic when it comes to sending things where the dates are not guaranteed (unlike Priority Mail or Express Mail)... It's been pretty good the past few years since the Pittsburgh center opened.... I get my games in 2-4 days of shipment notice (Michigan), and Fast Return just started to work recently...

I figure it helps to reduce the number of hands that the game goes through when sending it back to Gfly. I had the most luck when I dropped off the games directly at the post office early in the morning. I don't really trust my postman to get the game when he drops off the mail (around 2 PM) and hang on it the entire afternoon until he gets back to the receiving center ya know?

Damn that sucks. Since the Pittsburgh place opened I have a turn around of 3 days max. Much quicker then they used to be coming from CA. When I get the email that they sent a game, I almost always get it the next day.

Netflix is faster because they have more warehouses than Gamefly.

Gamefly has gotten too big and didn't really upgrade their service. I cancelled last year.

Before you could get any game at any time. Maybe you would wait a week while a game was out. That would be it. I wanted a popular game but waited about 3 weeks and all the time it said limited or low availability.

I also think other companies might have an arrangement with the Post Office to get their stuff through the mail.

Gamefly was a great service but it seems when the demand went up, their service stayed the down because they didn't adjust.

I agree with that. I don't think they are every shipping me a 2nd game. I have 7 games in my Q that all are low or medium availability, and so far, none of them have shipped since Saturday. At least this month was free, as this is the worst service I've ever seen out of a company like this. Oh, and still haven't received my game shipped on Saturday.

I drop my games in a mailbox near my apartment, and they show it as received and mail out my new one in 2 days usually. I don't know if my post office scans the barcode like gamefly advertises, but I never have had a problem receiving games on time in the 6 months I've been with them. My only problem was getting games way down my request list early on. I actually downgraded to one game out now, since I'm at a log jam of games I need to finish first, due to everything being pushed aside by GTA.

I find the whole service nice, even though I have gripes with their rewards. The games are always in nearly perfect condition, and the keep it price is usually a little better than what the games are selling for on ebay, and certainly better than gamestop prices. I got bioshock for $20 off gamefly, it sells for $35 in gamestop. It sucks that it isn't working for you, as it is a great service otherwise.
