LOL, I saw Altimus got Haze already. Gamefly shipped me Boom Blox last Tuesday. It didn't come in today's mail either.

Re: Gamefly?
Yeah, I get that, but you would think you would want to wow me and make me stay in. NetFlix had a free promotion when I started as well, and was blown away at how easily it was to get big name titles and how fast they came.
With GameFly, every single big game title is always out, and shipping is embarrassingly slow. I wouldn't recommend them to anyone and certainly wouldn't give them any of my money after my experiences with them.
Then think about the turn-around time for a rented movie vs a rented video game. Most people watch a movie maybe once and send it back the next day unless the movie is spectacular and maybe you keep it a week or two, but more likely once you watch it, run through the special features, its back in the sleeve the next morning. Now a videogame is an automatic keep until it either a) gets beaten or b) gets frustratingly hard/boring. Just some things to ponder before totally bashing two totally different animals (Gamefly vs Netflix) Gamefly is still a generally new company with a totally different model for business, they don't have anyone else worth noting executing their business plan better.Comment

Not trying to sway anyone either way but think of it this way, how much does a DVD/VHS/Blu-Ray movie cost vs a 360/PS3 etc, with a general amount of funds to spend which would you be able to stock most easily?

yep, I kept Uncharted for 3 months, it just sat around before I sent it back. I actually played the hell out of The Orange Box about as long. Plus it's cheap to have a 2 game plan, so people could be doing this all over.Comment

Re: Gamefly?
Gamefly sent me lower games on my list early on, but now I get anything I want. If you're a paying member, you will get the same level of service that others here have. Plenty of states separate me from both florida and pittsburgh, but I still get games in only a few days.
I sympathize, but I've already paid my dues, and have been with them long enough to where I apparently don't get horrible service. This happens in plenty of other clubs.Comment

Re: Gamefly?
Well they sent me Call of Duty 4 today so we will see how long it takes, hopefully not as long as Uncharted took to get to me previously.Comment

Re: Gamefly?
Trial members know what the service is when they try it out. People on here have said that they've been longtime members and get great service. It might not be right, but when I pay monthly, I expect a quality service, even if it means lower level members get less service.

Re: Gamefly?
Since you live in the chicagoland area also, can you give me a run down of the turnaround times for you? When I was signed up with them the two times before in the past, it was a pain getting what I had in my que and then even worse would take forever for games to arrive.Comment

Re: Gamefly?
The beauty of having a PS3 shines again, Lego Indiana Jones is Low Availability on the 360 but on the PS3 its Available Now. I just upgraded my account to 3 out so hopefully they mail it today so I can get it midweek and enjoy the game before the weekend hits. If anyone else has upgraded their membership during the day, did you actually get a game sent out that same day?Comment

Re: Gamefly?
I already canceled. They would have had my business from now on had they gave me good shipping. Oh well, I'm glad some people do get great service, it's the way it should be IMO.Comment
