Okay....finished this game last night.
I have gotten what has to be the worst possible ending in a video game. Not worst in bad programming or hating the game....but in my handling of the events causing the ending.....

Here is the breakdown....and I have a couple of questions...

While I was surprised to find Scott was the killer....I wasn't shocked. Is this the only possible killer in the game?
-The kids mother(who hooks up with Scott) dies
-Ethan gets arrested...and hangs himself at the end
-Jayden gets dragged off by the junkyard guy and get killed
-Madison....killed by Scott
-Shaun.......dead
Okay so .......what did the rich guy have to do with this? Like the scene when he goes to the brothers grave site?

Yeah Shelby is the only killer. As for the rich guy I'm pretty sure he explains it doesn't he? My memory is a little shady on it, but I'm pretty sure he owned the property that the kid drowned on.

Lauren Dies in the Car at the bottom of the River Because I didn't have Shelby Save Her

Jayden gets killed in the Blue Lagoon Club Upstairs by the Origami Killer with a Samari Sword. He was following a lead from Mad Dog.

Madison gets killed following the lead about the apartment ethan was in by a derranged doctor who drugged her then used her for surgery practice

Shaun gets saved by Ethan in time, but as Ethan exits the warehouse where shaun was being held the police light him up ala "gran torino" because they thing he's reaching for a gun.

Ethan spared shelby saying he will live with his demons and nightmares in jail, but the poilce never arrest him and he gets away, shown walking down the street after everything.

I'm not used to this....I'm used to SAVING PEOPLE! Also...I never got to talk to the old man...when I went into the house...guns blazin'.....I had to turn tail and get out of there...I kept missing the guys bodyguards with my shots

I think I read that there were 21 variations to the endings (though I'm sure far less truly separate endings).

As for my results...

The rich guy owned the construction site where the boy drowned. He said he left flowers at the grave ever since it happened.

My ending...

Ethan saved the kiddo and Madison help them out of the warehouse to avoid a showdown (I assume based on some of the endings I've read here).

Shelby drops through a meat grinder at the end after fighting with Jayden.

Lauren is seen in a later scene spitting on Shelby's grave.

Jayden goes on some book tour as the hero who caught the killer. Then there's a scene where he has a really trippy experience after using ARI.

Ethan and Madison get an apartment together.

Some of the things I did that helped this...

As Madison, I walked out of the crazy docs house after finding the club card and refused to drink after he pestered me about it.

-Escaped the car crusher with Jayden and killed the big dude.

-I escaped all the police chase stuff with Ethan and got intimate with Madison (which I assume is what led to the apartment scene?).

-I completed all the trials except for the last two (I let the druggy live and didn't drink the poison as I figured by then there was another way to find the location).

-Won the majority of the fight scenes, etc...

This was all on default, so I assume when I bump it up those tasks won't be as easily achieved (and some were admittedly luck as it was...lol).


One thing I didn't like was by the time the end was near, you had an idea that you didn't need to complete the trials to save your son. It kind of took some of the frantic pacing out of the story.

I started gun-ho getting zapped (I think I came damn close to killing Ethan there) cutting off my finger, etc. I hesitated on the one with the drug dealer and when I realized there was no penalty other than less clues on the hangman thingy, it took some of the drama out of the poison trial...I barely hesitated walking from that.

Aside from that, the inconsistencies of the story didn't bug me too much. I had an absolute blast playing it. My wife is playing it now and thinks Shelby is awesome...lol. I can't wait to see her reaction.

Couple questions for those with the game. How long is the main episode arc and how much is the DLC?

The main story is about 8-10 hours long. The DLC is about 30-40 minutes from what I read, I still have not yet d/l it.

The DLC is very good. It's not very long, but it's very creepy and it has 5 different endings.

I would say it was MORE creepy than a majority of the scenes in the game.

Is the game definitely worth getting? What is the price of the DLC? Seems like renting it may be the way to go, unless the replayability is off the charts.

The game reminds me a lot of the movie Se7en with Brad Pitt and Morgan Freeman. And that was one of my all time favorite movies.

That's EXACTLY how I described the game to a friend! Emotional, very dark at times, and twisted ... all in all brilliant!!!

This game is truly a masterpiece.

I have the same question. But I'm not sure if I want to spend $60 and beat this game in 1 night, but I have a feeling I'm going to cave in soon and pick it up.
