Re: Mass Effect Discussion
I understand your complaint, and I'd like a longer, more epic battle as well...
That being said I will say that I haven't played a 1 hour long boss battle that wasn't completely repetitive and didn't feel un-fun or cheap. It's near impossible for them to make a battle that long and keep it fresh. I haven't played the 2 games you mentioned, but I personally despise the games that make you fight for an hour and it's the same loop: Hurt enemy to certain point, they heal or "evolve" to another type, go back to step 1. After 20 minutes it ceases to be fun or "epic" and is just repetitive.
Not an RPG but MGS Snake Eater, the sniper fight took me upwards of an hour my first time; I've never had so much fun in a video game since. I could go with more epic battles in ME too, hopefully we can see that in some DLC or the sequels.PS: You guys are great.

The final battle itself definitely left something to be desired. However, fighting the turrets on the way to Saren and then the scenes after the fight were pretty freakin awesome.Comment

Re: Mass Effect Discussion
I finally started playing Mass Effect. Enjoying it so far. I feel it is too similar to KotoR and Jade Empire. I was hoping for more of an evolution of Bioware's RPG formula, but I am still addicted and have a hard time finding a spot to stop playing. I always want to complete just "one more task".Comment

tell me howSpoilerahen your in the citadel after it was attacked and you get to the elevator then it stops. That cut scene where shepard says looks like we do it the hard way then shoots through the glass mad me feel like such a bad ***....lol. bPlus when that geth drop ship comes and you have to activate the turrets to destroy it. I thought there was only one defense turret but there is 4. I felt like such a idiot.PS4 Twitch: http://www.twitch.tv/candyman5os

Re: Mass Effect Discussion
That has been one of my favorite boss battles ever, if not THE best. So much fun.

Re: Mass Effect Discussion
As long as we're on the topic of complaints/improvements for the next game
I wanted my actions to have more of a direct consequence. If I'm a renegade and a party member doesn't like that, they should try to change my behavior or leave the party.
I was looking forward to an experience like the pre-release commercial where you would have a mission at hand but get a distress call from somewhere else forcing you to choose between the two. Doing one would have major consequences for the other and the party. There's really only one story point that has major consequences for the rest of this game. The rest are geared towards a sequel.
I thought the renegade responses were jerk responses a lot of the time. I want to play as a renegade, not an inconsiderate sob. I liked having the jerk responses there, but I don't think a renegade has to be a jerk.
Whether I play through as a renegade or paragon, I essentially do the same things and the stories get resolved the same way more or less. Sure here and there you can shoot someone or let them live, but it really makes no difference on the story. If I deal with a situation by shooting someone, people should be afraid of me or I should have someone sent to try and get pay back. Yes the ending differences have major implications on ME2, but I bought this game to play ME1, not to change how ME2 begins.
I wanted more side quests to be like Eden Prime where you were on foot. I liked the Mako and exploring planets, but I liked the flow of Eden Prime's exploring/fighting on foot more.
Too many quests/stories sticking my nose where it doesn't belong. 2 people talking and I walk up and but in to their conversation to get a quest or resolve their argument. I'm a spectre, not the galactic Oprah.
More hidden things to explore in system. Ships that attack me, random break downs where you have to land on a planet and cobble together a repair, space stations to land on and trade items and get side quests and just get back story info on the galaxy from, and more ships to board. Anything to make the game feel more alive.
More interaction on the galaxy map. Somehow the wonder and awe at exploring space wasn't there. Neither was the feeling of the vastness of the galaxy. Not sure how to fix this, but getting from point a to b felt just like that, getting from one place to another and not like traveling great distances across charted and uncharted systems seeing awe inspiring sights.Comment

Re: Mass Effect Discussion
Everything that he said ^^^^
I shouldn't be looking back at a game that's over ten years old like Fallout and thinking about how much better it was when it came to open-ended quest design and dialogue. Renegade vs Paragon makes nil difference in the end and it's a total step backwards.
For instance...
SpoilerIf this were Fallout, a major plot point like sparing Wrex would have, at least, two distinct outcomes. You could use diplomacy and befriend him so he'll still follow you around making witty comments much like what happens in ME. He would introduce you to his mercenary weapons supplier back home and you could get access to some exclusive equipment.
Or you could be a renegade and neuter him so curing the Genophage wouldn't benefit him anyway. You would beat him until he's a mindless slave, make him wear a shirt that says "Humans Rule!", and then, after that point, you could pimp him out for slave labor at every earth colony you visit for 1000 credits an hour.Comment

Re: Mass Effect Discussion
I definitely agree with everything mudtiger said. I was also just thinking about how we were supposed to be able to interrupt people mid conversation. I would've really liked that to be included. Hopefully it's in the next one. If they can keep making improvements with each game, this is going to be one amazing trilogy.Comment

Re: Mass Effect Discussion
Might have a few spoilers, I finished the game and loved it, however I guess I have some minor gripes:
I wanted more character interaction, kind of felt like they needed more personal talks between the crew. I didn't like that I beat the whole game and felt like I didn't really close story lines, even though I finished all conversation options with those characters.
Mako. Yeah it was cool, but used too much. I wish more planets had cities to go visit, or at least maps that half the stuff isn't on huge mountains or something, that got kind of old after awhile. I also avoided all flat land on that thing, as I hated those worm things.
The final fight, I guess this game is part one in a trilogy, which usually the first one ends with the story feeling like it just began, but the game just didn't end right to me. Yeah the galaxy is saved for the moment, but it didn't have that feeling I had when i beat the first KOTOR. This game beat KOTOR in everything but the absolution of the ending, to me at least.
My character. I realize this one is entirely my fault, but it frustrated me. My character looked cool to me at first, but after seeing some of the characters faces in the game, I felt my guy looked ********, but didn't want to start over again.
Credits. When I needed them they were hard to come by. By the time I hit halfway into the game, I was a multi millionaire. Money became useless to me.
Going through an entire planet in the Mako and then having a fight with a Geth outpost and not personal fighting. I liked fighting on foot, and I think for most of the planets the Mako was just used too much.
What I felt the game did right:
This game just felt a lot more realistic than KOTOR or Jade, I actually thought the guns would be a downside to the combat after playing those two, but it was pretty good. The characters all feel believable and most of the dialogue is very well done.
I liked the choices in this game. The game felt a lot more personal to me, choosing who might live and who might die was nice. Wish there was more of that.
The Normandy, huge upgrade over the Ebon Hawk, it wasn't even close. That elevator was slow as hell though.
The voice acting. Just incredible.
To be honest, I used to think KOTOR was the one series I wanted to continue with than any other one, but that has seriously changed now. I don't really care anymore about the rumors of KOTOR 3, give me Mass Effect 2 over that anyday.Comment

Don't ever let anyone tell you otherwise.
If I went any bigger, it would not have properly fit with my equipment, so I had to optimize. I'm okay with it, but I also know what I'm missing with those five inches. :)Comment

Re: Mass Effect Discussion
I guess it just has to deal with I just spent 30 hours and want more of an ending and not have to wait 2 years or so. I mean it might be better how they did things, but I guess I just hate the long waits (I know, necessary evils, but I really wanted to keep playing the game after it ended).Comment

I want to play the sequel now too, but besides beating Saren and the immediate threat there wasn't anything else to fight.Nintendo Switch Friend Code: SW-7009-7102-8818Comment
