Re: COD: World at War - Multi Player Beta
Codes are given via a Gamestop pre-order for the game. You provide your e-mail address when ordering, online and / or at a retail store, and they will e-mail you the beta code. That is if they get your e-mail address correct. I pre-ordered and did not get a code, not yet anyway. Pre-ordered my son one as well and he recieived his code on Friday. This is what makes me think they screwed up my e-mail address. These were two separate orders.
The other option is become a member on callofduty.com. The longer you have been a member the better chance you have of getting a code from them. You can go to that site for details.
I've seen some codes on ebay going for up around $60.00 but I'm not that desperate.Originally posted by ImTellinTimIf I lived in Waco, I would find you and kick you right in the nuts.Comment

I just signed up at eurogamer.com
they're giving keys out, I think on monday for this game. So that's probably when I'll get mine.
It's free, and it won't cause a lot of junk mail.Liquor in the front, poker in the rear.Comment

Re: COD: World at War - Multi Player Beta
No I don't unfortunately. I was under the impression that memeber's will recieve a key, but that doesn't make sense since not all members would be 360 owners.
It just says you have to be a member to get a key, so I'm guessing there will be a questionaire to fill out soon in order to get a key (there always is, i've been in 3 beta's now).
But like I said, it's free and I doubt there will be junkmail from it - plus I use an email account that I have just for crap like this.
I'll check the site later and see if there's any new developments.Liquor in the front, poker in the rear.Comment

True, you had to be on the site and logged on late this morning to get one. They had 20,000 to give out, they were gone in about 15 minutes. Got lucky and got one myself. Glad because my Gamestop pre-order code did not come through.Originally posted by ImTellinTimIf I lived in Waco, I would find you and kick you right in the nuts.Comment

Re: Call of Duty 5: World at War (PS3/360)
Impressions:
Fired this up last night and went right to "Free for All". Played several games and was pretty much target practice for the others as I was playing mostly with people who were maxed out on leveling up. The max level in the beta is 11.
I could tell right a way that this game runs on the COD 4 engine. Gameplay is almost exactly the same with the differences obviously being the WWII weapons. There are 3 maps in the beta. One called Castle, one in what appears to be a bombed out train yard, and one night level on a beach.
Perks are there, again similiar to COD 4, gas grenades, gas masks, fireworks (not sure what this does, I did not level up enough to get it), explosive charges such as satchels, bayonet attachment, etc. At 3 straight kills you get a recon plane that shows you where the other players are on the map. At five kills you get a mortar strike and at 7 kills you get a pack of dogs to turn loose. Those damn dogs must have killed me a dozen times. You can kill them but they are hard to hit as they zig-zag around. You can also knife or bayonet them but that too is difficult. I did not get enough kills in a row to unleash the dogs but did get one mortar strike.
The weapons that I was able to get are a mixed bag. I did not care for the rifles, the sound when shooting did not appear to be quite right. Not real accurate and unless you get a head shot you will need to hit them more than once to stop them. The BAR on the other hand absolutely rocks. Was able to deal some damage with that gun. Thompson machine gun was pretty cool too. The sticky bombs are pretty cool, they are thrown like a grenade and stick to items such as houses, tanks etc. The train yard level there are tanks. You can either use the machine gun or get in the tank and shoot shells. Don't stay in too long though as sticky bombs and bazookas will take you out.
This game is gory. I was hit by a tank shell and the kill cam showed by torso being severed, legs went one way and my upper half went the other. Grenades will do this as well.
Graphics are good. Particle effects, scenery are well done. Got a couple of the dreaded "connection interupted" where the game slowed down and once was sent back to the lobby because of it. That's a sever problem though and happens once in while in COD 4.
All in all I was pleased with the beta. If you like COD 4 you will likely enjoy this game. Note that in my opinion CAD WAW is not like COD 3 even though they are both made by the same company. This game runs on the COD 4 engine and it shows.Originally posted by ImTellinTimIf I lived in Waco, I would find you and kick you right in the nuts.Comment

Would you say that you think the final version will be a a major improvement from CoD4? And were you playing in SD or HD?Comment

Re: Call of Duty 5: World at War (PS3/360)
Playing on my Sammy in 1080P.
I don't think it's a major improvement over COD 4. In my opinion COD 4 is the best first person shooter ever made, online and off. It's more of the same with a WWII theme. I think many will prefer the modern warefare over this just because of the weapons and such. COD 4 was a breath of fresh air from the WWII themes. The gaming world has been bombarded with WWII games but this is one of the best of that genre in my opinion, based on my brief playing time of the beta. Very interested to see what the offline campaign offers.Originally posted by ImTellinTimIf I lived in Waco, I would find you and kick you right in the nuts.Comment

Re: Call of Duty 5: World at War (PS3/360)
Thanks for the impressions OPD. Sounds like fun. I am one who doesn't mind it going back to a WW shooter. If it's just like COD 4 (like you said the best shooter to come on. I wish i didn't trade it in when Madden came out. It was def my favorite game on 360, but I was getting a bit tired of it) then I am going to have a blast with it.
Looking forward to the release day.Comment
