Re: Call of Duty 5 confirmed
I don't mind if COD5 going back to the WWII route. I would like for it to be from a German soldier point of view. COD5-The Rise of the Reich. Just kidding.
Activition was brilliant with the strategy regarding COD releases. COD3 was a stop gap between COD2 and COD4. COD3 generated revenue while Infinity Ward was developing COD4.Comment

See you are in France and need to secure a bridge or something. The build the town and you walk up to the edge of it and need to progress through the place without the linear feel to it. Just one big town where you could go in buildings and homes. Patrol the streets and need to hold and take positions. That would be cool.Comment

Re: Call of Duty 5 confirmed
Totally agree on EA, still scratching my head on the Bond route, but I disagree with your WWII comment.
The COD series, more or less, owns the market in the WWII genre and they would be fools to give up that market share because no matter how many games come out, there are so many different angle and stories to cover.
Now, with IW, far superior to Treyarch, they have grabbed market share of the "modern warfare" market and soon will put themself in a position to be the leader based on the primetimeness of COD 4. They would be idiots to ruin this huge, immediate following and goodwill of COD 4 by letting Treyarch continue the franchise.
It makes sense. Lead in two markets while letting the inferior team continue to win the stale market and let the superior team continue to try and be the leader in the growing market.
Neither touch, everyone wins.Comment

Re: Call of Duty 5 confirmed
Maybe it's time to try the Vietnam war with COD? Or maybe even combine with smaller wars like Grenada, Falklands, Desert Storm, Malay emergency. The posibilties are endless.follow me on twitter: www.twitter.com/eton_riflesComment

Re: Call of Duty 5 confirmed
True open maps will indeed be very nice. But for now, I would take being able to choose like 3 paths, which does somewhat give us the illusion of an open map.
COD Vietnam would be cool. I bet it would've been an even better premise for video game if US had won the war.Comment

As for vietnam, there's a reason it fails as a game. There's no real mission, and we failed in the end anyways. At least with WWII or the story in CoD4, there's and actual goal and end to a game.Last edited by bkfount; 12-05-2007, 09:46 AM.Comment

Activision Reveals Call of Duty Plans
The next Call of Duty will arrive across six different systems before the end of Activision's fiscal year, which ends March 31, 2009, and will feature a "new military theater," according to Activision Publishing CEO Mike Griffith. The undisclosed new setting will try to capitalize on the massive success of Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare which, according to an Activision earnings call, has doubled the install base of the franchise ever since the company took the series out of World War II. Next-Gen.biz reports that the next installment of the best selling first person shooter will appear on the DS, PC, PlayStation 2, PlayStation 3, Wii and Xbox 360 platforms.Go Noles!!! >>----->Comment

Re: Call of Duty 5 confirmed
I read that Treyarch is also making the first Activision 007 game, based off the new movie. So I wonder if they can really do this as well, since CoD5 will be on almost every console imaginable, both next gen and last gen.Last edited by bkfount; 05-09-2008, 04:48 PM.Comment
