Re: Call of Duty 5 confirmed

Lognhorn I believe that is the agreemenmt that activision has with these 2 developers. It's so there can be a release each year and each team can have a full 2 years between each of their releases. You almost wish EA did this with Madden.

      Why?

The COD engine is based from IW each and every time. COD 3 was COD 2 with many bugs and COD 2 was a IW game and one, if not the best WWII FPS shooter ever made.

Also it is well known but the rumor has been that this is the last time Treyarch will be making a COD game.

Re: Call of Duty 5 confirmed

        From what it looks like:

-Call of Duty: Finest Hour was Infinity Ward.
-Call of Duty 2 was Infinity Ward
-Call of Duty 2: Big Red One was Treyarch
-Call of Duty 3 was Treyarch
-Call of Duty 4 was Infinity Ward
-Call of Duty 5 will be Treyarch

Treyarch has always used the IW base to produce a game for Activision, so that each game could go through a 2-year development cycle, while still getting a game out each year.

CoD5 will be Treyarch, with IW's CoD4 engine, in the Pacific. Personally, I don't see how that is a bad thing at all. Territory the Call of Duty series hasn't ventured into (the Pacific), with an engine that made a damn good game.

It's because IW isn't with Activision's plan to have so many WWII games. Part 1 was the first one. After that they started working on modern warfare, but part 1 was a hit and they got the cash to do a higher budget version and took it. After the success of that, they went full steam ahead on CoD4. It's not like there is some kind of partnership with Treyarch. This is just Activision's way of milking the license.

I am fine with this. I know COD 6 will be amazing and hopefully even better then COD 4.

none of that really matters. The problem with WWII games never was the setting, but that everyone was making the same "one guy kills a bunch of nazis" WWII games.

People are just tired of WWII games, and going back to that after CoD4 is a jump backwards down a flight of stairs. However, with CoD4 selling 10 million copies, there will be at least a few million that pick it this up without even knowing it's made by a different developer.

Re: Call of Duty 5 confirmed

I dont know if i'll get COD5 and it hurts to say that i have to skip a game i enjoyed so much last year.

bk that is pretty much the sentiment, and it seems IW understood that. It doesn't have to be based around a fully realistic historic war, but as COD4 is, modern warfare type of action. GRAW does it... why can't they keep up with the times?

To go full out modern, then go back to the genre that people are tired of is taking a huge step backwards.

And how is this game going to be "one guy kills a bunch of nazis"?

All I'm saying is people are writing this game off because it is "just another WWII" game, when it is a completely different side of WWII. The war in the Pacific was, as I'm sure everyone knows, night-and-day compared to the war in Europe...and how many games have done it before? One Medal of Honor game that, in my opinion, was absolutely terrible?

I'm excited, especially since they said they are going to be using CoD4's engine.

I don't think I'll ever tire of good WW2 games. COD3 wasn't as good as COD2, but it wasn't THAT bad either.
I'm curious to see how COD5 turns out with 2 years of development time and which Pacific Island battles are featured.

Hey if it sucks, you can just prestige on COD4 until they run out of new medals to give you.

The game is going to be "scarier."

Are Japanese people scarier, is that what Treyarch is trying to tell me?

Then they better introduce some new medals and raise the prestige levvel from 10 to at least 20.

I'm just writing it off because it's a WWII game PERIOD...

I know, I know, wait until it comes out, etc etc... but I'm sorry, I'm tired of those crappy old wooden guns and stupid outfits.

The modern age stuff is so cool and fun to use... it's tough to go back man.
