Lognhorn I believe that is the agreemenmt that activision has with these 2 developers. It's so there can be a release each year and each team can have a full 2 years between each of their releases. You almost wish EA did this with Madden.

Re: Call of Duty 5 confirmed
The COD engine is based from IW each and every time. COD 3 was COD 2 with many bugs and COD 2 was a IW game and one, if not the best WWII FPS shooter ever made.
Also it is well known but the rumor has been that this is the last time Treyarch will be making a COD game.Comment

Re: Call of Duty 5 confirmed
From what it looks like:
-Call of Duty: Finest Hour was Infinity Ward.
-Call of Duty 2 was Infinity Ward
-Call of Duty 2: Big Red One was Treyarch
-Call of Duty 3 was Treyarch
-Call of Duty 4 was Infinity Ward
-Call of Duty 5 will be Treyarch
Treyarch has always used the IW base to produce a game for Activision, so that each game could go through a 2-year development cycle, while still getting a game out each year.
CoD5 will be Treyarch, with IW's CoD4 engine, in the Pacific. Personally, I don't see how that is a bad thing at all. Territory the Call of Duty series hasn't ventured into (the Pacific), with an engine that made a damn good game.Comment

People are just tired of WWII games, and going back to that after CoD4 is a jump backwards down a flight of stairs. However, with CoD4 selling 10 million copies, there will be at least a few million that pick it this up without even knowing it's made by a different developer.Comment

Re: Call of Duty 5 confirmed
I dont know if i'll get COD5 and it hurts to say that i have to skip a game i enjoyed so much last year.
bk that is pretty much the sentiment, and it seems IW understood that. It doesn't have to be based around a fully realistic historic war, but as COD4 is, modern warfare type of action. GRAW does it... why can't they keep up with the times?
To go full out modern, then go back to the genre that people are tired of is taking a huge step backwards.Comment

Re: Call of Duty 5 confirmed
All I'm saying is people are writing this game off because it is "just another WWII" game, when it is a completely different side of WWII. The war in the Pacific was, as I'm sure everyone knows, night-and-day compared to the war in Europe...and how many games have done it before? One Medal of Honor game that, in my opinion, was absolutely terrible?
I'm excited, especially since they said they are going to be using CoD4's engine.Last edited by Beantown; 06-10-2008, 01:58 PM.Comment

Re: Call of Duty 5 confirmed
The game is going to be "scarier."
Are Japanese people scarier, is that what Treyarch is trying to tell me?I won't ask for Christmas or birthday gifts if you subscribe to the Operation Sports Newsletter (Not Just Another Roster Update). I write it, and it hits your inbox every Friday morning (for freeeeeee). We also have an official OS Discord you can now join.Comment

And how is this game going to be "one guy kills a bunch of nazis"?

I know, I know, wait until it comes out, etc etc... but I'm sorry, I'm tired of those crappy old wooden guns and stupid outfits.
The modern age stuff is so cool and fun to use... it's tough to go back man.Comment
